Your GMAT is good, but WE is on lower side, that too for 1 year MBA. Check their 1 year MBA class profile...you should get a good idea.
I too cant afford any of the 2 year MBA programs in US...I am depending on the loans Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. - Albert Einstein

Hey Girish, did you get any reply from Emory ?
I had applied to Emory for full time 2 yr MBA program in Round 2. I got a mail from AdCom today morning saying they have put me on waiting list.
Strange thing is that they did not contact me for an interview and directly sent the mail after evaluating my application.
They have also asked me to reply them filling a waitlist response form indicating whether I wish to remain on the waitlist or withdraw my application. Naturally I am opting to stay.
What else could I do from my end to improve my chances of admit. I feel I put forth my best application and there is no additional info that I would want to send to the AdCom.
Thanks,
Kaushal. | | | | | | | |

I noticed this thing with many other people - waitlist without interview. Emory class size is small (< 200), so all eligible applicants must have been waitlisted.
If they encourage you to contact them with further information, you should definitely do so - tell them you are very much interested in their program. Know the program well - Goizueta core values (very imp), FlexCore structure, Lead weeks etc etc.
Good luck! Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. - Albert Einstein

Good luck! | Hi SNAX,
What exactly do you mean when you say "all eligible applicants". Does it mean all applicants who qualify the avg requirements (avg gmat, avg work ex, etc.)?
How many of such eligible applicants would there be (approximately) according to you? I mean what are the chances of converting this to an admit ?
I did contact them asking for a feedback. Shall wait for their reply.
Thanks,
Kaushal. | | | | | | | |

Kaushal. | Disclaimer: I too am an applicant/admitted student
When I said eligible applicants, I meant those who the adcom thinks are good to be admitted. In 2004 rankings, Emory jumped places and entered the top20 circle - so there must be lot more applications this time. Since their class size is small (~165 in Fall '05), I would assume they have filled the "Indian engineer" pool already (I know atleast 3 of them). So other "good' applications are placed on waitlist - if admitted students choose not to attend Emory, they will extend an invitation to waitlisted applicants.
If they thought you don't "fit", they would have dinged you already. Some ppl on BW forum have got a reject without an interview. So be at peace
I myself am on the WL in one of the schools - so I know what WL ppl go through
I dont know the exact WL numbers though. Good luck on the wait! Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. - Albert Einstein

Keep checking the BusinessWeek "Emory MBA Applicants" discussion thread for new information. There are quite a few current/admitted/WL-ed/dinged ppl there.

I got an email invitation for an interview with the adcom in Bangalore. Submitted Oct-24, got an email mid-november for interview, interviewd on Dec 1st. Got the decision on Dec22.
Best way is to wait for the interview call. Maybe you can call the adcom if you think your appln and reccomendations are not complete.
