Exclusive interviews of Admissions Directors to be published on PG - 01-12-2005, 12:38 PM

Hello Junta,

We are in the process of publishing exclusive articles with respect to the admissions process. Starting off with the interviews of admission directors from some of the top schools of the world.

We will be starting off the series with an interview from Megan Lynam, Associate Director for Marketing and Admissions for the full-time MBA program at The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University.

While this article is scheduled to be published today, over the weekend, we will also publish an interview from V K Menon, Director of Admissions for the PGP programme at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

I am absolutely sure that you will find the interviews very interesting and informative because we have asked questions that matter to you

Regards,

I feel that the interviews available on other sources are generic in nature. I hope you are planning to ask some questions focusing on Indian applicants esp. for the foren B-schools.

Would it be possible to add a few of my questions, unless they are already there?

In the adcoms opinion, is there anything that distinguishes an Indian student inside the classroom? Conversely, what is the value add provided by an Indian student inside the B-school environment, apart from "diversity”?

What would they advise Indian students in terms of preparing for the B-school rigor? I mean, can the admitted students do something(s) before matriculation to make the B-School experience a successful one?

Is their anything special that admissions committee keep in mind while reading an Indian applicant's essays, like do they forgive the writing style (which could be more British than American)?

I have a few more questions but I guess your list would already be all inclusive and some might be well suited for the career services office and the Alumni office so maybe I would save them for future.

Btw, these questions are only my suggestions. If you are not comfortable adding them to your list or if you find the questions naive in nature, please feel free to ignore.

Questions are never naive. But the interview has already gone live and for the next interview we will feature more India specific questions based on the feedback we receive from the readers

The questions you have mentioned are rather generic, i.e not business school specific and may be applicable across all schools and therefore I doubt the schools will be able to answer them. But as I said, its a learning process and we too are looking to conduct more interviews and based on the feedback here - we will ask more India specific Qs
