transcripts? who are they?

hi guys...

quite new to pagalguy. gonna write the gmat on 20th may.... was just wondering what the hell is this TRANSCRIPT BUSINESS?

i mean.. in india we get marksheets... and that too separate marksheets fr each year of completed college. so if we are to send original transcripts to all the b schools that we apply to (lets say .. 8-10) we need original copies of those transcripts... (i was told by one knowledeable person that marksheets are the transcripts!! ...whatever it really is..)

but we cant get more copies of the marksheets from the universities (4 x 10 to be precise fr 4 year college study) unless we report earlier copies lost...so how d hell can we procure 10 originals???

im all confused. i dunno what to do... my college is in dehradun...and what is worst my college study is from 2 different universities ( one from uttar pradesh...and one from uttaranchal...arrey yaar...there was this whole state partition drama and stuff)

please ..i need someone to reply to my querry in detail... some one who has gone thru this transcript holocaust, MODERATORS and AAM JUNTAA put your forces together fr this one

whatever that knowledgeable person told ya was true...transcripts are nothing but a summary view of all your four years of results on one page.

if u can ask that knowledgeable person again mebbe u wll know how to procure them too

go to ur college office and ask for a grade transcripts or whatever the hell they call it. u dont hafta send 8 original copies of ur four-year degree course. infact, a photostat attested and sealed by the registrar of the university is just as good as original.

Don't really think what I did is acceptable, but back when i was apping, i took 'em from the registrar of my college. I dint wanna do a 500km ride to the univ to face some pan-chewing admin guy when i could get a paper done by a similar guy here and all i needed to do was make him feel important afair, none of the univs made any noises on that.... The fact that they chose to ding me is completely irrelevant

thanx a ton guys. that solves one of my probs.

i gave my gmat on 20th. scored a 750. pretty gud i guess. anyways...as fr the transcripts..i guess ill get em signed frm the prinicipal of my college...coz as i mentioned my degree is half frm one univ half fr another...so its best that i get the princy to do the honours. and as MY ESTEEMED FREIND mentined...ill send em the SEALED copies too

will ask fr more help when i start applying. thnx again.

Hi ur mad,
just needed some more clarification, it will be helpful if you provide the same, the official transcripts.... like if i have the summary ( one page) marksheet capturing all the 8 semesters, a copy of the original signed by the "colleges registrar" not the universitys, will it suffice ? and what does it mean sealed by, does it mean that i cannot package the transcripts along with the other stuff in the application ? does it mean that the envelope is sealed by the univ/college, guyz please ignore my ignorance on this issue but i m really confused as far as this official transcripts are concerned, bottom line is it just an attested photocopy of my final marksheet, will the colleges registrar be sufficient, otherwise u know even i m scared of that pan chewing admin at the university ( literally 500 + kms away ) , so urmad or other gyanis please help.. thanks in advance and yes happy new year
