GMAT gyan - 10-07-2005, 05:44 PM

Hi Junta,

I m also preparing for GMAT. I had given CAT twice earlier and i dont have to moral strength to undergo the emotional and mental stress of writing the cat once again. More over i might move on in my current software job. I will be travelling abroad for a considerable time at the time of cat..

well. i have set september as a deadline for my gmat. Havent started much of the preps. photo copied OG and kaplan.. at this point, please do let me know what should i read for getting a better score in sentence correction? I find them tough in gmat. So any additional inputs on them would be of great help..

Also, can anyone throw some light on how to go about registering for GMAT? maybe i didnt search the threads properly, i m not able to get them..

any ppl from chennai who are writing gmat by september? do let me know..

Good luck for one and all..

nithin

Hi there - 12-07-2005, 10:35 PM

Lots of GMAT fans out there!!!

Guys frankly speaking there nothing much to do as far as cracking GMAT is concerned.. I mean in terms of mental stress and efforts as compared to crack the "INDIAN CAT" which is really sucking..I mean it guys..it sucks hard!!!

since you have already preparared for cat so for u quant wud be a cakewalk..however verbal mite suck you hard I mean it will make you go crazy as you will find that the english that we normally speak is full of grammatical flaws..

I would recommend u to read my very first post that gives you sufficient material you need i order to crack the whole sys..I tell u one thing very frankly that, unlike "INDIAN CAT" WHERE AFTER working like donkey for 6 mths there is no surety that you will qualify,in gmat cat there is nothing like that...Infact 2 months of serious and dedicated prep would make your sail smooth and cool..trust me this will happen but make sure that you get into this groove without any distractions becoz it needs you to be very serious....

any other info regarding gmat do let me know or you can send pm to me

take care

need to get back to work...

GMAT verbal vs CAT Verbal - 14-07-2005, 03:54 PM

Hey sgmat....

Can you tell me how difficult it is to crack the GMAT verbal part when compared to cracking the CAT verbal?

I started off preparing for CAT and am now considering the GMAT option..... any info or sugestions would help.

cheers

P.S. You have had a fling with both.... so I guess you should be in the best position to answer my question

Hi!! - 14-07-2005, 07:45 PM

Well verbal part is very dicey..You see it pretends to be on the easier side after all it is all about reading a sentence and with 40% gut feeling and 60% concepts it seems that this is the right answer but the whole story is other way round..so in this case I would recommend to first of all make your verbal prep systematic and structured so as to get the concepts store in the rite part of the "brain"...plzz dont make it hodge podge make sure that you follow a particular path...

comparing "INDIAN CAT" with "AMERICAN (GMAT) CAT, I would say you dont have to do indepth studies for the former as I have seen that in the former case the percentage concept is other way round I mean it is more on gut feeling than concepts...

I would repeat the fact that as such there is no hard and fast rule to crack verbal section in the both the exams as what appears to you mite be sth else from the examiners point of view so you have to be pretty careful while tackling such questions...I would say in "INDIAN CAT" it is your performance that matters in all the sections and you r not required to solve all the questions...but in the latter case you have to attempt all the questions no matter you know the way to solve becoz if you wont answer then in that case it would lead to heavy penalty...

Guys be foccussed becoz the very moment you lose the focuss tat means you are out of the groove...

catch you later guys!!!

My GMAT Score - 26-07-2005, 09:10 PM

Hi Guyz,

Well I am new to this forum.....
Just gave my GMAT....did manage a score of 730 and am basicaly aiming at ISB.
I got a 51 in Quant and a 36 in Verbal.
Well, the verbal score doesnt seem to be that good.
Does ISB and other universities abroad consider the sectional scores separately in addition to the overall score??
Also, what weightage is given to the essay scores by ISB in their overal admission process??

Thanx in advance,
Pankaj.

Hi - 27-07-2005, 05:07 PM

well guys back again this time got hold of TIME mock cat...seems to be pretty good especailly di and quant..highly conceptual..needs to give it a shot guys every time I blog my perception is always different than when I blogged the last time I mean this time CAT seems to me all about practice practice practice....like donkey and make sure to take special care of the basic concepts... be in love with these sucking concets for few mths and kick there ass.....di is very dicey...god knows what kind of questions gonna get on 20th nov in di...but i think practice is the key..

I was going through the ISB.EDU well guys isb seems to be cool bet come on look at the people faculty placements (no doubt)..and hell lot of other things....wants to give it a shot but this cat has made me so very preoccupied with her charm....let us hope I wud be able to crack it..!!!

take care guys....send ur inputs and some motivational tips this is what i need as of now.....

catch u later!!!!!!

Hi - 03-08-2005, 09:19 PM

CAT IS TAKING ITS TOLL...i m sorry to write this but this a fact...yaar come on just look at the kind of mocks given by TIME...they are really sucking...Got hold of mock 603 !!!!!! it sucks...this way it would be difficult to trust you calib I mean yaar u start doubting your calib that whatever u r doing has got no meaning in life becoz everytime u get a new cat with new colors....

Let us see what is gonna happen...at times it makes u feel down and u find that nothing is worthless in life if u get it it is ok if wont then also ok becoz u can manage it some other way round....cat teaches u this grt concept of life that no need to get emotionally attach to anything u get it it is well and good but in case u miss it keep on going becoz life never stops it keeps on going yaar....

best of luck guys

need some grt motivation for my tired soul???????

take care catch u soon.....
