Re: Error rate and GMAT Score -

@ Narendra,
This is a pretty tough question.Your score doesn't depend on a fixed error rate or a fixed number of errors. GMAC has a complex algorithm which none was able to replicate and predict perfect/probable scores. Only GMATPrep has got the nearest possible calculator. If your dream score is 730, and if you are good at Quant, eye at a score of Q -50/51 and V - 40/39
Here are my observations about the number of errors i can do until my dream score doesnt look impossible :
1) The more number of harder questions you are going to see on the GMAT, the better the score will be. There is no laid rule on which question is taken as hard by GMAC. But let us say this way. Easy ->Medium -> Hard. So in order to see that hard question, you need to make sure that you correct questions consecutively and as many consecutive questions as possible.
2) First 10-15 really do matter. Make sure you time yourselves to strike all the first 10-15 questions right.
3) For quant when i got a score of 51 on GMATPrep, the number of errors were 3 and that were after Ques 25.
4) For Verbal try not to make more than 10 mistakes and make sure you give your first ten questions right. I think with this target you should be able to score above 35 consistently.
5) Consecutive corrects will take your score higher and consecutive mistakes will take your score lower at the same pace. So be careful !!
6) Do attempt all the questions - or else double penalty !!
7) And do not think about making an error...think about marking every question correctly. Do not allow your mind to let off a mistake.
Thanks,
Mudragada
