690 is neat, specially the verbal score...39 in mGmat would result in 43-44 in powerprep/Gmat.
Dude...it is on coming Tuesday Sep-9th.... I also heard that quant in real GMAT is simpler than MGMAT [I guess and pray its true]. Today I will analyze my quant. Keep a glass of water on my head and it will boil in 5mins .
Tensed and nervous...hope things go fine on the G-day... GOD!! just 3 more days...

I have three weeks to go for my G-Day (30 Sep) and i feel i am no where on Verbal. Untill last week i thought i was doing good on Verbal and more 2 weeks of practice i should be home. This week was a disaster. I dunno whats going wrong. I kinda suddenly lost my aptitude for Verbal. Last week my acuracy for around 70%+ and for the whole of this week i am not even crossing 50%, that makes me feel pathetic. It has never being so low.

I thought of revising my basics and that retry, i did that too. After revising also i am simply not getting the answers. CR for me was my strongest area and getting 2 out of 3 questions wrong.

I dont know what happening, dunno whats going wrong. Feels like my brain has given up its simply not analysing any info. Has anything like this happen to anyone out here, if yes than please advice what should i do. Beleive me i am giving all that i have for this prep and as the weeks pass by i find myself going further away instead of getting closer.

Help me guys...i only have 25 days to work and get where i want to be. Thanks in advance.

Nikdo ...I guess you have ample to time to get on track. What you said happens. It happened to me when I was pushing myself too much over the edge. I would say, take a day break, get relaxed and then analyze what all points you are missing out. Then make a plan and attack

I do not want to advice anything now, coz I dont know if my strategies are correct. The MGMAT-3, RC was a nightmare for me... I made some 8 mistakes [4psgs-13qs] . Probably I can tell you what I did for my Verbal after my G-day....

Dude...u really have time...just relax and concentrate back with some new plan.....

Dude, it depends on your job sector. If you are in IT, chances are bleak for a 680 score. Are you planning to try other B-schools [US, Europe] ?

I think you should give a second shot @ GMAT. There is a waiting period of 31 days, which is sufficient to get from 680 to 720 levels. During this period your primary focus would be the essays and application, alongside prepare for GMAT. I am saying this because you already have the base for a decent score you just need to polish it. It should take less time than your initial attempt. Even after your GMAT you will still have more than a month for your apps which is good enough, assuming u go for round 2.

This appraoch would result in the foll:
1. You will have to apply in round 2, i dont think that matters.
2. If you give your second try in Oct, and get a better score it will enhance your chances for ISB. On the flip side if it does not work out, ISB will still consider the higher of the two scores. So i dont think you have anything to loose.

Hope that helps.Do let us know what are you planning to do and your reasoning behind that. ATB...

Cheers !!
NiDo.

Thanks brother!!!
Yes I am applying to NYU, Stern and columbia.... The prime reason is I am based in NY and donot wanto relocate except if it for HBS or UofP-WSB or so many more...however the manhattan B-schools that I just mentioned are no less and they also maintain Elite stature and donot let any mediocres inside, the average profiles for the admits are almost the same...however for me its worth the risk...

Yes my friend...that was the thought that first popped up when I saw the score...In the last two weeks I got 700+ and was expecting the same but I think...my concentration went haywire somewhere in the mid of VA and I screwed up...did gain concentration at the last but it was not of much good which is obvious...and now my friend after u have said the same I am seriously considering this ...
However there is another side to the story...which is can I get admission into NY-manhattan B-schools(Atleast B+) with this score...(this one is addressed to evryone)...???

Abhi !!!

Re: GMAT takers JUL/AUG 2008 - 09-09-2008, 02:00 PM

Hi Guys...
My gmat test date is 13th sep..just round the corner....
I have given Manhattan tests and got the following scores....
610 45Q,30V
690 49Q,35V
680 48Q,35V
660 50Q,32V

and rest 2 MGmat tests i still hav to give...
This is my second attempt for gmat....last i gave in July...

Any comments or suggestions regarding the scores..which i am getting...????
What is the forecast for the original gmat score..based on the Mgmat scores....??? I feel quant is tougher in mgmat as compared to the quant in gmat prep...

Also..i am hearing loads of things regarding the level of gmat tests these days..
Though its a mixed response only..some say its getting tougher day by day..
others say..its d same as gmat prep tests only..

Any thoughts..on that....or any inputs from people who recently gave the exam...will really help......
