Congratulations Mayank!

Quick question - Are Manhattan tests the ones you can take on their website when you subscribe to their course for some $ 50 odd dollars? And also, how did you find them?

Did you find the Official G. of Math and Verbal as the same level as the exam PS, DS, SC, RC, CR?

Many tks. in advance, Paki
Hey Paki,
Yes I mean number properties. Sorry to be imprecise. You will find a lot of questions where they will test your proficiency with numbers (Integers, fractions, irrational numbers alike). I am sorry, I can not share the questions here as that will be a copyright infringement. Moreover, I don't remember the questions.

for quant the difficulty level was more than that of OG. I think the tests of Manhattan prepare you well for the actual GMAT quant. I found the verbal pretty much comparable with Manhattan and OG alike.

Hey Sartre,

I strongly recommend Manhattan tests as they prepare you for the worst. Their approach to quant problems is amazing. I took all the tests in the last 2 weeks. Its better if you follow a similar approach as that will further bolster ur quant skills.

There is 1 free test (Which is the toughest)
To access other 5 tests you need to buy any of their books.

I would recommend all of you to brush up your maths concept well. The questions had a uniform misk, with an added emphasis on number systems and geometry. The first 15 questions were very easy but after that the difficulty level gradually increased and my 27th question took me around 7 minutes ......I had 6 questions remaining with just 10 minutes to go. Obviously I panicked and must have got a number of questions wrong in the last. That's why my advise is to develop a proper time management while taking the GMAT.
The overall difficulty level of verbal section was uniform. I was getting annoyed as I did not get a single bold faced question. The concern that I may be doing a lot of errors kept perturbing me. But when I saw the score, I realized that all these conceren were unfounded. Take the test with a cool head and do not let speculations waver your attention.

My scores in various tests is written below (In case anyone is interested)

Powerprep1 = 690
Powerprep2 = 740
Kaplan 1 = 550
Kaplan2 = 610
Kaplan3 = 660
Kaplan4 = 640
Gmatprep1 = 700 Retook it 770
Gmatprep2 = 700 Retook it 750
Manhattan1 = 550 (Was slightly conctipated )
Manhattan2 = 660
Manhattan3 = 720
Manhattan4 = 730
Manhattan5 = 780
Manhattan6 = 760 (on the eve of GMAT)

Took a couple of princeton review tests too but found them quite easy.

Regards,
Mayank
Congratulations my friend....will sure take ur advise seriously.

Man...you rock. 710 in MGCAT-1 is obscenely amazing. I must confess that I haven't come across a lot of people who could manage 700+ in their 1st Manhattan test. Way to go.
Keep it up and do not let a great score or poor score wane your unflynching dedication. Every test contributes to the learning curve.

Regards,
MR

Hi Araj,

As I said in my earlier posts, you can take the Manhattan tests only over the internet. To gain the access to write the test you need to buy any of their books.
I did not rely a lot of books but practiced a lot of questions. However, Manhattan Grammar guide is the best book for grammar. For verbal,I relied on the 1000 series as it gave me a great practice.

Best of luck
MR

Re: GMAT takers JUL/AUG 2008 - 05-07-2008, 02:51 PM

Hi Neo,

My GMAT date is on July 14th ..I am targetting ISB.

I have given few tests...from these tests i am really not able to find out my level of preparation...Scores are as follows.

Manhattan Online test (530),
Kaplan Diagnostics (570),
Kaplan 3 (520)
GMAT Prep1 (620) !!! scaring me

Pls advice me on study plan..for next one week.
Do I need take more tests or anlayse on whts goign wrong and concentrate on weak areas?

Quant:- In PS, I make lot of silly mistakes and DS accuracy sucks
Verbal :- RC accuracy varies a lot...i,e 50-88%.same with SC...CR accuracy is good.

Regards
Bunty

Just one suggestion. Don't worry about colls and apps now and give your best in exam. You hardly have 2 more weeks to go!!
Good Luck for your exam. Countdown begins
Hope to see a joyous debrief of yours after your exam
