Hi Guys count me in too...

I gave my GMAT this monday and got 770. Any one has any queries would be glad to help.

On the other hand i am having a horrid time trying to pick schools. My profile (as of today) is 2.5 yrs work ex (1.5 infy and rest at oracle) and college scores were first class (i mean first class and not that they were great). Extra curr is avg(and that to by a long shot - basically was head boy in school and a few debate certificates here and there.. no social service).

So ppl please tell me what i can do to get my extra curr on track and which schools should i target considering that i wanna continue in IT companies or technology consulting.

Hi..
Awesome score man...tell me where did u report your scores to..n help us with GMAT preps..
any info would be very helpful.

hi Aqua..
my researches also not fruitful..the only stuff i found was that a very good gmat score with good recos n sops can get us a schol..in my case that is...considerin our profiles are almost same it applies to you too..

second option is to go for some schools where the fee ain't all that high..like the asian n aussie schools..thts my personal choice..coz those are really good courses with lots of scope and you can do them without dripin in debts!

whn are u givin ur gmat..?

Wall(buddy atleast tell ur name na...or some pet name will also do;calling u a wall is very weird)

ya educational debts r a big worry......in asian schools i think AIM-Manila and NSU-Singapore r gud.but i guess the post graduation oppurtunities wont be as exciting as US.
because i checked the AIM website......the recruiters der are Satyam,ICICI bank etc
also they started campus placements abt a yr back.
as for NUS ......its quite tough to get thru
what do u say?????

I am trying to zero in on some gud public b-schools in US....share ur list also

i havent started my gmat prep yet...........am clueless abt where to start from....counting on u to help me with this.
have u started prep
i plzn to give GMAT by May at the most...what abt u????????????

To summarize my prep:

I had a lot (and i mean a lot) of false starts in my prep. By false
starts i mean that i used to study for 2 - 3 days and then chuck it again.
I needed a jatka to really start preparing and i got that around October.

So people if you are the lazy kinds trust me. Pick a date. It aint gonna happen till
you actually pick a date and pay out the cash. Thats when it pinches and studies
get serious.

As for the material

Material
--------
1. Prinston review (good but not comprehensive.. a good place to start)
2. OG 10 and 11 (between the two of them a HUGE question bank)
3. Manhattan for SC (gets all your concepts straight..a must do)
4. Spidey notes on SC.. great resource for the finer points
5. 1000 question pack (did only 40 %)

Practice tests and my scores with stage of prep
-----------------------------------------------
1. Gmat Prep Test 1 : 720 : first week of prep
2. Prinston Review test 1 : 690 (47Q/39V) : 18 oct
3. Kaplan Test 1 : 650 |
4. Kaplan Test 2 : 640 | Basically i did one
5. Kaplan Test 3 : 660 | every weekend
6. Kaplan Test 4 : 620 | -- this one was a shocker
7. Prinston Review test 2 : 710 (51Q/37V) : 18 dec
8. Prinston Review test 3 : 690 (51Q/34V) : 19 dec
9. Prinston Review test 4 : 680 (44Q/40V) : 21 dec (this one scared the SHIT out of me)

While i was preparing i never really looked on to these forums much
and definitely did not do any questions i found on the net. What the tests told me
continuously was that i sucked at SC. So i attacked that by doing sheer numbers.

Another thing i did (and this really helped) is maintain excel sheets containing
all my answers. This helped me in attacking the ones i had gotten wrong on a latter
date and also to figure out where i needed more study.

Ne thing else u need to know please ask...

ohh and i got 770 on the 2nd GMAT prep test. They say what u get on this is what u get on the exam.. guess they were right. (thankgod for that)

Hey Zor Singh!!
Congrats for the score!!

@ Aqua, Wall::
I'm also done with my GMAT and have done a decent amount of B-school research too.. Will be happy to help if needed.. Have scribbled my prep-story on my blog too..

As for schols, the simple funda is that by extending a schol to u, the school is buying u out and for that, u need to be better than their avg admit.. As far as I understand, if u can get a 750+ in GMAT, many schools ranked in twenties will consider offering an admit with decent schol..

One more thing:: Aqua, why r u targetting May for ur GMAT.. I'd suggest getting done with GMAT ASAP so that u can spend some quality time on B-school research.. Even if u start from now ( I guess u hav already started) u can easily write it in late March.. That'll also keep the option of retaking it open in case u fail to get ur target score..

Gud luck!!

Race to perfection has no finish line!!
