Can anyone help me to get the GMATPrep & Powerprep Tests that are mentioned here? I mean are these paper tests or online tests?How can I buy them?Please advise

Hi Ankush,
nice to hear about your 770 score.
I am scheduled for gmat on 9th Aug 08.
pls let me know if 1 month and 10 days are sufficient for prepare for GMAT.
i have already applied once and scored a 580.(47 Quant 23 Verbal)
nw i am able to do better in rc and cr from OG-11th edition.
pls help as how can i improve my verbal section.

The Powerprep tests are freely available online at www.mba.com - they're the closest you can get to the actual test. I scored 630 & 650 with Kaplan (740 on the actual test). However, I was not able to install Powerprep - somehow it was corrupted everytime I managed to download it.

You're right - you need to do quite some work on your Verbal. Don't worry, I was in that range when I began and managed to score 740 (V-41, Q-49, AWA 6.0) with just over a month's prep. All you have to do is to carefully analyze where you are going wrong. Be sure to analyze your correct responses too - to ensure that they are correct for the right reasons. Unless you sit and analyze what types of questions are consistently getting wrong, you'll simply be groping in the dark. A few tips from my side:

1. Instructions for Verbal are good in Kaplan. Learn from there and solve OG11 at least twice
2. Princeton is *awesome* when it comes to AWA. Their template methodology is really great. Be sure to write at least 4-5 essays of both types (issue/argument) before the actual test. If possible, try preparing by just jotting 8-10 bullet points for topics and then paring the list down to 3-4. Use the list in OG for topics.

Thanks a lot for sharing your strategy to crack GMAT.

Just to brief you I am planning to go for 1 Year Executive MBA.I have total 5 Years Of work-Ex 2 Years in manufacturing and 3 Years in SAP BASIS consulting.Working with one of the fastest growing US companies.I am not much of techi sort of person.Very much interested in finance.

2 days back thought to persue MBA.Need some basic suggection at first place.

I have two options for time being

1.Shall i go for MBA in systems (Do not which are the best institutes for this)
OR
2.XLRI Genral Managemant programme.(With finance as elective)
Do IT companies entertain 3 years of exp with executive MBA (Finance)?
Which institues one need to join to crack the GMAT?
Any suggestions from your side in terms of other options or courses which you would like to share.

Please reply i am very confused since last week only i decided to go for it

Hi guys..

I will be giving my GMAT on 11th jul.. please help i me out quickly..
I am in a fix where to apply in the 5 free colleges on test day.

please suggest me some colleges for the same based on these criterias:

1> expecting 680-710. good acads n prof exp.
2> 3 yr exp by the time i join.
3> looking for 1 yr courses only (as of now)
4> finance or intl business
5> dont have enuf bucks for costly schools..

As of now i have zeroed at NTU, NUS. How r these as per my criteria..
Also how abt thunderbird?

HELLO ANKUSH

I found yor entire GMAT journey from preparation to test very inspirational. I would like to take GMAT by 10Sept2008. I will be able to put in 2 hrs of study everyday and 3-4 hrs on weekend (which is only for a day). Shud this be ok. I am an average intelligence person and have not taken an aptitude test till date. I have not started gmat preparation yet. Is it achievable to get >700 score within these limitation ...sincere,concentrated,focussed effort is guranteed.

congrats for an awesome score. i am taking GMAT on 11th august. i am in a real fix and need some help.

i started my prep some 1.5 months back and took a gmatprep test before starting prep and got 680. i was quite satisfied and thought after prep i would reach around 720. I took kaplan two days back and got only 550. on analyzing i found i have made some seriously stupid mistakes. but even then i could not have managed more than 600. i got really disapointed after tht.

as far as prep material goes. i have completed og11 and og for verbal review, manhattan sc. i have started with manhattan cr. and will finish it in next 3 days.

i have 1 more gmat prep left and 2 power prep left. i also have 3 kaplans and some 10 odd sectional test each for quant and verbal with me.

i am targeting 720 - 730. Please help me how should i go abt next 20 days since time left is very little.

what material should i refer now? shall i go for kaplan book (which i have not read till now) ? how should i plan to take the full tests? i am also lagging in speed in verbal. i had to guess last 4-5 questions in both the tests. what should i do to improve the speed there?

i know i have too many probs and very little time but thts how it is.

My GMAT Date is 19 Aug. I have started with OG 11. I took its diagnostic test and situation seems bad for me with CR where i scored in the range for 'average'. I have got Kaplan Premier Edition too, which i am planning to start once i am totally thru with OG.What do u suggest for CR?
