I'm preparing for it for last 5 weeks and hope to get decent score (aiming for 700+). Till now done the Kaplan premier and almost finishing up OG.
Mock tests:
GMATPrep 1 (at the start) : 620
Kaplan 1 : 570 (10 days back - 41Q 28V)
Kaplan 2 : 640 (yesterday - 41Q 35V)
Planning to go for GMATPrep 2 tomorrow.
Analysis for Kap 2 showed me that for DS and RC my scored went down a lot compared to the other test. I'm guessing it may be the level of Qs in this test as on solving same sections in OG, I'm doing fine. Still practicing a bit for these sections on OG. For SC, I'm able to get right most of the common corrections and some of the tough ones. So leaving further study for the same and just concentrating on what I've learned so far.
BTW I'm appearing for test on 22nd May. If anyone has any last minute advice to help me (specially on DS), I'll appreciate but planning to follow mostly the routine to relax, watch TV and just look at some of the collected tips (kind of cheat sheet) on the last day before exam.
I know I'm running really close and should have practised a little more like going through a couple of more mock tests, trying out Kap 800, but though to go ahead with my confidence of peaking at time when it matters. Not aiming for 750+, so I guess I've a realistic goal.
Thanks
Amit | I got 650 (Q44, V37, AWA 4.5). Although I was expecting near about 700 but I guess DS let me down in the exam too. I'm planning to go for the exam once more and planning to do the following prep:
1. Go through the OG once more
2. Give both the mock tests (GMATPrep)
3. Go though Kap 800
4. Complete the remaining Kaplan mock test (2 of them I didn't give before)
5. Install the GMATPrep again and go through them 1 week before exam.
Ankush, do you think this will be okay or should I take some other strategy?
Thanks! | | | | | | | |

I am a fresher planning to do MBA after gaining some experience...
I have some queries..
1- Since GMAT is valid for 5 yrs., Does it make any difference if I take it now and apply after say a gap of 3 yrs.?? Do universities consider this in selection? If yes then why?
2- Which will count more..an experience in IT (which I'll get) or experience in Finance?
3- Which is the best book to start your preparation with??
4- How much experience will be good enough?

hello Ankush... Congrats!!
i should really say hats off to you man for your dedication in answering to the queries .. its almost one year since you started the thread !!!
I have some queries too..
some updates first:
-GMAT in 4 weeks
-GMATprep : 710 in beginning without prep [have prepared for CAT already]
-Manhattan tests: 710,720
-fininshed OG10 sc.
-verbal score stuck at 34-36 !!! [QA no issues as i get 50-51]
-weakest link SC/RC
Question:
-Should i start Kaplan 800 ? i was planning to save kaplan 800/GMAT prep2/PP2 for last 2 weeks. As i have already suffered in CAT 2k7 for peaking earlier
-should i try Kaplan tests? i already know they do not indicate actual scores, but from your posts i find that you have recommended them as very good tool for improvement.
-iam trying my hands on verbal tests from 800score.com as well. Still unable to cross 36 limit !! but i feel some answers are not correct [Mostly CR] have you tried these tests or heard from frnds ?
-what else do you suggest to take my verbal score from 36 -> 43 ???

I am planning my GMAT in August. You got a very decent score in GMATPrep .After reading your post , i just wanted to share my views.
Did you complete OG ?if not please do that ASAP. Because you have only four weeks , i feel there is no point in procrastinating. then you can start working on kaplan 800 . In between , you can take some kaplan mock exams . | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to araj136 For This Useful Post:

araj, thanks for reply and suggestion
i have already finished og10 & og11 sc. og10 CR i left after 60 ques as it is too simple.
working on og10 RC right now, but RC is not a major problem as compared to sc..
and for kaplan 800, my concern is if i exhaust the questions in say coming 1-2 weeks, i won't be left with any fresh good quality questions to practice !!
for Kaplan mocks, iam plannin fr that, but lack the resources. i will PM you for help on this. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
