Re: Gmat takers in december 2007 - 30-10-2007, 05:07 PM

Hey,

I strted my prep somewher in the last week of Aug..was pretty late actually to strt wid the prep..but since I had taken CAT, CET earlier was familiar with the type of qtns in GMAT..did only OG10 + OG11 during this period and Maths concepts frm the CAT+CET material I had thts it!! was able to complete the material just in time before my GMAT on 29th Oct..I solved a few tests.. strted with GMATPrep1 and one Kaplan Test in the initial stages of my prep..got a 540 in both..took GMATPrep2 just a week before the actual GMAT..got a 660..one thng tht was keeping me frm scoring high was RC ..it was eating a lot of my time..I was falling short of time bcoz of tht..tht is exactly wat hapnd with me in the actual GMAT as well..was short of time n had to rush thru the last 10-12 qtns..n the result a painful 620!!! The strategy I followed for RC was flawed I guess..I used to make a note of evry single detail which i felt was important in RC..I shud rely more on my memory I guess and manage the speed n accuracy..

As for the qtns in the actual GMAT I found them decent enuf most of the quant qtns were on Algebra, got a couple of qtns on Probability n Venn Diagrams..but was manageable though need to improve on certain areas to avoid silly mistakes..Verbal SC's were also easy I felt..CR's were decent enuf..i got Q-47|V-28..

Now planning to reappear for GMAT in Dec..!!!Wanna apply to SP Jain Mumbai..the cutoff there is 680..
Guys, ur views suggestions r most welcome......

Well the CAT may have had a little to do with it, although I had filled up the form for CAT never really got around to preparing for it.
Took it yesterday, had taken it last in 2001, didn't fare too bad, according to the ims answer keys got a 110 but will probably miss the sectional cutoff for quant.
Anyway, back to GMAT have it on the 4th, have started giving the tests, started with princeton review ones, tanked the 1st one got a 630, in the 2nd got a 680 and a 740 in the 3rd. got 48 - 49 in quant in all of them, verbal am getting used to giving it on the comp, so the scores are climbing which to seems like a good sign.
Have got Kaplan next on my list, probably will keep the 2 gmac ones for last. Have given 5 of the 9 retired ets paper tests, getting 700 - 720 in them. Will do some of the 30 sets also.
Anyone knows how the JJ's from scoretop vip section are? Have heard a lot about them in various forums.

happy studying,
Raman

Hi I am planning to take the exam on March but some friends of mine took the exam on NOvember and they told me that

1 The exercises are very similar of the type of the GMAT PREP so I would concentrate on those type of ex.

2 in Verbal usually the exam begins with sentence correction and CR and the RC comes in the 7th question.

Hope this ll be useful

Regards

Can any body share, which universities can we target after having scores ready by December 15th....?

I am sure , all of u who plan to take GMAT in December would have some or the answer to this question.....

ISB dates are gone....US, most of the Univ deadlines are gone....Not sure about UK...What about NUS & Nanyang ?

So which quality MBA Programs' deadlines can be reached by appearing in GMAT in first week of December .....?
Appreciate the response in advance....

I wouldnt count on that.. It doesnt really matter.... Unless ofcourse, you are really bad at one type of question and u REALLY dont want it to be ur first question.. Still, therez nothing much u can do abt it, is there?

I too was looking for an answer to the same question.. I started out pretty late (my decision to do an MBA in '08, that is) and booked the date in December just cause I wanted 3 months preperation time.. And only later did I look at the dates for the application cut-offs.. To make matters worse, I took my TOEFL in 2002 and I just realized that the validity of those scores has expired. So, I need to retake the TOEFL too!

However, I think Tepper's second round app date is in the first week of Jan.. If u hasten ur application process, u might be able to meet that deadline.
