A disclaimer first - i didnot follow any template or any book or notes for AWA.
for the AWA section when i was reading through instructions in OG and Princeton VW, itried to understand the way the essays were being evaluated. The computer evaluation is based on the way other top scorers have written in the past and for the human evaluater as far as it contains arguments backed by illustrations written with a sound grammar and concluded well, they make no bones about giving a 6.
there are few important things you must keep in mind, structure the essay properly, the ideas should develop coherently and smoothly, there shouldnt be grammatical and spell mistakes, the conclusion should clearly state your stance and what else you wanted the argument to have.
For each point use a seperate paragraph, put in only those point that are vital, its an essay and not a thesis. 5-6 paragraphs in total, 5-6 lines or more in each, should give you enough space to put forth your ideas. make notes and jot down what points or examples you might want to use in the essay, Write the introduction and conclusion first, they are the most important part of your essay, then fill in the details in form of other paragraphs. Use fancy words when you know their full purport, but do use some of them
go through keya' thread (i hope) you might get some excellent advice there
