Re: Fms foreign quota - 11-12-2007, 03:33 PM

I wanted to know some detail regarding applying for the MBA program as an International candidate:

1. The web site mentions that “Foreign students studying in Indian Universities are required to appear in the FMS admission test.” Are such students considered in “the 9 seats for International students”?
2. Do such students need to take any special steps other than filling the form and stating the Nationality other than Indian?
3. Is the fee structure for such students identical to the other students (that is Rs9950 at the time of joining)?
4. The web site also states that “The candidate should have completed 16 years of education.” Can a student who is currently in the final year of the three year course in journalism in an Indian university apply?
5. What is the syllabus for the entrance exam? Does Mathematics have advanced topic like Calculus, Trignometry and Probability?

Regards and Thanks,
Kamal

dear gonuhere...

was hoping you could help me out with a query regarding FMS admissions -
i am a resident of switzerland for the last few years and have taken my GMAT. i have an indian passport and my nationality is indian.

i wanted to know whether i would be eligible to apply under the international students category with my GMAT score.
i can prove that i have been living abroad for the last two years and can also provide a a residents card from the swiss government.

please help me out and let me know if i am eligible under the international students category that FMS has for 9 students every year.
i would really appreciate your help as i have tried calling the admissions office a number of times and they have not been of much help.
awaiting your reply....

Hi Karan,
FMS foreign quota is only for people who possess passport other than that of India. As per what you've said you are asking for NRI quota. FMS does not have NRI quota. It has only foreign students quota.
Hope I cleared your doubt.

well about the fees, its 10k + $1000 for first year
and another 10k for another year

well minimum score , there is nohing of this sort, higher the score, higer is the chances to get, but a idle score would be something above 660 ( mine was 650 )

well selection throug foreign quota , u shold have completed ur graduation, u are not eligible if u are still pursuing ur graduation, and ur gmat scores, thats all for admission
through foreign quota

well to tell u 50% doing mba are BE

well mba ms is a normal and general mba but specially dedicated towards service industry. and about toughness, both ae the same, theplacement for both are nearly same but for mba ft is a bit higher than mba ms

and easier to get is all depends on ur score of gmat

hope i have solved ur probs, and please tell others who are interested in foreign quota stuff to contact here

will try to solve the probs

Hi gonuhere, since u have got an admit into fms, could u tell the approximate gmat score at which the admissions close. I mean what was the lowest gmat score admit ?

Hey all.
Sorry, i was not available on Pagalguy for long. Well to brief you all on all the aspects of the procedure
First
A foreign student studying in India can apply only after he/she has cleared the graduation. you can't apply until you have completed your graduation, unlike in case of CAT or Regular examination for FMS

Second thing an NRI can fill up the foreign quota form, but i am not sure about this as i did not find any specific information the official website, but some friends out here from the foreign quota are basically NRIs, but i think necessary documents should be there to support.

third you need to possess your passport

if any thing is left unanswered, please let me know. will be glad helping out you guys

All the best
Gaurav (Goru)

I was wondering if the foreign quota is applicable for the people who have done graduation from Indian University but having passport other than India.
Could you please clarify about this.
