Hey!
I'm not able to understand the difference between the usage of "in that" and "because".
Please help.
An example:
The yield per acre of coffee berries varies enormously in that a single tree, depending on both its size and on climate and altitude, could produce enough berries to make between one and twelve pounds of dried beans a year.
A enormously in that a single tree, depending on both its size and on climate and altitude, could produce
B enormously in that a single tree, dependent on its size and also on climate and altitude, is able to produce
C enormously, because a single tree, depending on its size and on climate and altitude, is able to produce
D enormously, because a single tree, being dependent on its size, climate, and altitude, is capable of producing
E enormously, because a single tree, dependent on its size as well as on climate and altitude, could produce

My take: option C
B,D & E have 'dependent' and in this case 'depending' seems better.
A has an unnecessary 'both'
Pls share the OA

GMAT SC: because vs. in that - TestMagic Forums
though IN THAT is considered archaic and is PROBABLY not preffered on the GMAT

Many people posting questions do not mention the source of the questions. I've seen problems from GMATPrep and Manhattan 5 free CATs.
Kindly post the source as it will allow the people who haven't taken that particular test to skip that problem if they wish to.

whatsoever the gyan is:
let me tell you a simple thing here: i guess idiom is vary in ... so has to be either a / b...
rbetween them, call is of verb to be or could...just to make it shorter or may be preferring the indefinite tense (as we talk of a general fact)...
my shot is A
"Do not fear going forward slowly; fear only to stand still"
