Re: GMAT takers for April/May 2007 - 09-11-2006, 01:45 PM

I havent got any strategy yet. But I plan to take the test sometime in April. This leaves 4 months for prep.

Dec
Jan
Feb
Mar

Since I am working its quite tough to devote time in the evenings. I feel sleep

But currently I want to focus on verbal as it really is my weak point.

One word to all would be to download

Powerprep and GMAT prep. Take one test from either one of them and see your score.

This should help you analyze your weak areas and focus more on that in the begining.

Dont exhaust all your tests from these two as they are said to be pretty accurate to your actual GMAT score.

save them for the end.

there are various online tests for free ( kaplan and princeton )

plus kaplan cd is available for download and has 4 full length tests ( download is in forums not on kaplan site )

I am yet to take the full length test and I am really scared of doing so :(

Psychodementia, in case you'll dont know, is a very respected poster on Pagalguy when it comes to the GMAT. You'll might want to read the following thread, atleast for the first 5 pages or so.

Re: GMAT takers for April/May 2007 - 09-11-2006, 02:14 PM

SC is getting better. i recently started with CR and RC. my reading and comprehending seems to a problem. I have to actually go thru it twice to understand what it says. yest i tried out a set each in CR and RC. outta 10 ques i got 4-5 wrong.

i am not able to get those asusumption ques right man.. ..i fail to get the assumption. any suggestions on that???

sandy, dont loose hope. i am sure you can crack it....

I have one question which I am sure many of us have here

Could someone please give an estimate of how many questions I can get wrong in both verbal and quants sections to get the following scores:

780
770
760
750
740
730
720
710
700

say if 700 means i get around 10 out of 41 wrong in verbal and 9 out of the 39 in quants,

this would mean that i have to fair better than this. Coz I dont want to score below 700...

Re: GMAT takers for April/May 2007 - 09-11-2006, 09:22 PM

I have yet to start my preps although i have ordered my books. I will start my preps from DEC. wil work out basics slowly and remove my rustiness both in maths and verbal. Just to ensure that all the basics get back to me before i start my preps. I have to do some homework even before i start my marathon.

Once i feel good i will give a sample test to access my score. My GMAT date will depend on my score. If i feel fairly confident i will book the an earlier date otherwise in april/may.

I will post as and when i progress. right now. I am just in dreaming stage:-) and collecting information and materials. You can expect some action from my side from first week of dec.

Re: GMAT takers for April/May 2007 - 10-11-2006, 12:12 AM

:eh: Donno what to say

Thought tonight I would take my first powerprep test to see where I stand.

The test started with 2 AWA, and I chose to quit the section.

Next was quants in which out of the 37 I got 10 wrong and got a section score of only 34 :(

But the biggest let down was that the test quit automatically in 1h15min saying that my time has expired. I could do only 3 questions in verbal. all three were SC and I got only 1 correct from them :(

Did this happen to anyone else? Which test should I now take? Should I uninstall and re-install powerprep?? Can anyone please help me here

thanks

Vivek

PS: some quants questions were silly mistakes and some were genuinely tough.

Good that you started your journey. I would suggest taking another test without any time cutoff. Just try and solve as much you can and try to fit in the time. You dont have to necessarily. I will do the same once i brush up some topics.

hey vivek, i have not taken any of the powerprep tests. but still what happ to u out there seems pretty absurd.
BTW, when do u guys plan to start prep for the AWA? that too is an imp part of the GMAT (though its not considered in the scoring process)....
took a practice set on SC and CR. CR sucked bad. hope it improves quickly...
where can one post the doubts of CR, SC or RC? can it be done here???
