Finally cracked GMAT elusive target: 700 (49- Math, 35- Verb)

Congratulations on ur score....

Well i am taking up the test on OCT 14 .. i have given it once earlie and got 540...

i have picked up the Kaplan comp book and cd... and have the princeton material... pls advice on any other sources that will help me ... wanna get above 650 atleast the second time.....

Hey dude ....

U r right.... the official test CD GMATPrep..... i guess that's the same as th dopwnloaded one from mba.com ( i didn't try the downloaded version)..

It's better to sol;ev the 2 practice tests again and again , because u will get some new questions evertime u try.....

If u feel like giving complete test again and again isn't worthy then just test any individual section of the exqam and just give flukes to other section..... practice exxercises are no new u can find sme questions in OG11

but practice each test atleast 2 times-3times

Hi abhi,

The books that can really be helpful to u other than normal list of books areare :

kaplan 800 (go through the way they reason the solutions)
Kaplan GMAT verbal workbook ( though haven't gone through that completely , for i got it only a few days before the exam, its really informative and extensive especially SC - grammer than any other book)

yeah also 1000 SR,RC & CR
try to concentrate ur week area ..
If its RC && CR ( the above books can be very helpful)
Sc ( u need to go through the grammer - Modifiers , prarallelism idioms sub-verb agreements... get hold of Wren & Martin - try to understand quickly what is a phrase ,what kind of phrase it is and gerunds, infinitve participles their possible uses...
qualifiers like most much etc....

let me know more about ur weak areas so that we can decide what needs to be done...

Hey thanks 4 such such a motivating reply.While doing my Sentence correction, I am actually facing lots of problems with subjunctive moods and alsi i am getting confused with the usage of like and as.So if you could please elp me with that.
I am doing atlease 20 CRs every day out of which i am getting atleast 15-16 correct

My acuuracy with Rcs is not very stable, some times I get 4/5 and at times iam also getting 1/5.i am lot in reading but still I dont know what is wrong with my comprehension.
I am quite comfortable with maths and DI,may be coz I am an Indian

Hi Dangy ... as rookie I am ... I got to rights to talk

But I would like to reply to ur this issue;

Use like only when you are trying to Compare two things:
e.g. She walks like an angel [Yo baby now I am talking ]
Remember, she is not an angel .... but one of her attributes is comparable to Angels

Use such as only when you have to give instances ....
e.g., We have so many angels in world such as Drew Barrymore, Nicole Kidman and Halle Berry

Use as only when you are describing a state
e.g., The book lying in a position just as we left it

Hi Everyone,


Congrats for ppl who are able to crack GMAT. I am planning to write GMAT on december. i am not so good in english, and seek help from u ppl to prepare the verbal portion of GMAT. i am using the OG 11th edition and kapplan 800.
Please send me your suggestions.
