Avinash,
I am sorry, but I must say I am a bit irritated to read your post, but I am going to keep my stupid temper in check and reply to you point by point.

Thank you. If you look around this site, there are a lot of others whose posts you will find equally helpful... Senapati, Ajnsit, Iday, Kunal, Baba Yaga,.... all GMAT stalwarts in their own right. Going through their posts will give you a very good idea about what has been same and different about each person's approach to the GMAT, and will no doubt help you tailor your own strategy.

Avinash, first of all, why do you want to give the GMAT in your final year of engineering? Have you thought out/looked through the kind of colleges that accept GMAT scores? If yes, you'll see that the percentage of freshers in these colleges is extremely small. Of course you may have a great profile, yet something tells me, that if you did, you would be more aware of the whole process.
And if you don't have a great profile (no, a great profile does not mean an IIT with a 9 CGPA, but a maturity of thought translated into action that shows that inspite of still being in college, you can teach people with about 4 years of work experience a thing or two about business and life), then why even give the GMAT now? Though GMAT scores are valid for 5 years, most colleges prefer if your GMAT scores are not more than 2-3 years old.
secondly, if you can't find the patience to even read through a few threads, and your attention wanders within the first few posts... how on earth do you expect to go through the in depth thought process that the application essays require?
Again, I ask you, before saying 'I wanna give the GMAT' have you even thought out the process? Do you have any idea about what you want to do, why you want to do it, and how an MBA will help?
