ok chango, since you took my mail as sarcastic, i need to clarify here at that i was not being so. Keya is a gud friend and a joke every now and then is probably in order.
and i know she is matured enuf to take the decisions. since you are the poorer should she reaching out, i can understand your perspective as well. all that i meant when i wrote that post was that from what I know about her, she tends to overcommit herself - she is too gud to refuse anybody and i mean anybody - i was not referring specifically to you so chill out. and for her to not to be able devote more time to herself is absolutely not desirable at this juncture. she has still miles to go in her apps and her work schedule is not helping her much too.
hope i have made my stand clearer and my image better, . ;-)
cheers and ATB

P.S. i do agree with the rest of Keya's post.

Keya,
u r providing an excellent contribution to this thread. may the blessings of all those who hav vivited this thread piles up ur "blessings count since u born " and makes way for the B-School u desire
Well keya,u being at the helm of excitement, I do apologise for asking a non-gmat stuff but just want know ur views .
guys i do apologise for asking a non-gmat stuff as I want to know an accurate suggestions from this benevolent girl.
Keya, wat is ur perceptions and views on a part time MBA programme from eminent B-School like IIMB ?!
well, i am s/w engineer from accenture and focussing extensively on PGSEM of IIMB.
I am now at the midway of preparation.
At sometime at the bak end of mind, a serious thought encrypts, asking me 'is part time reqd ? " or "am i on the rite path?! " once it catch up, this second thoughts spreads up all over my mind and hinders further to concentrate on my preparation . that day becomes off or ofcource becomes black day interms of prep.
okie, i can hear u that u may ask for what is my aspirations.
1)All i can say is i want to do an MBA from the tags of IIM's only. i don want to blah blah blah of why i shud do a MBA which we used to give at the time of B-school interiew as against our realistic perceptions (ofcourse many guys !!). i feel that everysecond of what we are doing, what we are speaking and how we are acting and how our brain thinks includes a management skill and this skill needs to be enhanced and the catalyst of enhancing these skills can be from a B.school and i need a better catalyst and tats why i prefer IIMs
2)i do hav a thought of going for GMAT and thereby clinching IIMA (perhaps I am aiming too high/speaking(typing) too much)...but i do want to stick in IT and hence preferring IIMB but this was a part time and there is no placements though. you could simply say as per ur points 1) u can better opt for this course.. i do convinced my mind but this monkey mind sometimes, not under control encrypts "that thought"as said at the start.
okie okie...
just give simple view of whether it is good to go for part time from ur perceptions and guide me whether it is advisable even it is from premier inst.
thanks keya...keep up the gud work and keep going

OK, Guys,
I just logged on and found that you all had again contributed to making this thread longer .
Now my three cents on the whole thing:
1. Yes, Kunal is very entitled to a joke now and then... in fact, he's entitled to a lot more leg pulling than he does. I certainly don't mind... I'm sure I do my share of the leg pulling too!! And may I say that one of the best things I like about him is his sharp wit... a bit acerbic at times, but then if everything were sugar coated, we'd all get diabetes, right? :satisfie:
2. I'm sure he had my best interests at heart when he said that thing about the apping process. And he is right about the fact that my apping process is quite delayed, and that I'm planning to shift my apps to R2. I don't think that with work and all, I am going to be able to make it to R1.
Also Kunal, thanks for the vote of confidence...

I don't know if I'm truly as good or not, but it sure doesn't hurt to hear someone say it!!!!
But to put Kunal's mind at ease here, my apping process is delayed primarily because I have writer's block, thanks to my work these days.
Also, my company has plans to send me onsite sometime soon (and I had been asking for an onsite assignment to I could put away a nest egg for those two jobless years), and that may clash with the R1 deadlines, and so I thought it might be more sensible to shift to R2 rather than send in rushed applications in R1.
That's all.... But I definitely agree with Kunal that I'm walking a tightrope here.. I definitely don't have much time if I want to take a shot this year, and it is worrying me.........
3. Having said that, I still do love helping out people... if work and study are mind food, for me helping others in any way I can, is soul food... so Chango, you don't have to hesitate in asking me to review... only know that if I ever say that I don't have time for it right then, I'm at my wits end with all that I have on my plate, not because I'm trying to evade anything.
OK, so after Kunal's official closure of the topic, here's my unofficial closure.....
Sigh..... you know what they say... Never send a man to do a woman's job...

This is in reply to Gamesh's long post... I'm not quoting it here because else this would just get too long..!!!
I read your post very thoroughly... thrice... and I want to say first of all, that I'm treading very thin ice when I give my opinion here... because it'll be just that, my opinion... it's not backed by market research or solid data. It will have more of my 'gut feel' to back it than any solid proof, so I might end up sounding like a naive fool.
Now I've said that, I'll give my opinion... but Gamesh, please take it with a pinch of salt... none of us are infallible, and I'm more fallible than most!!!
I, personally, would not go for a part time MBA. But then, that's just me. When I do something I do it the whole hog, or not at all.
For me, it makes more sense to take out the time and totally immerse myself in the MBA experience rather than hop between work and study. At the level we get to after 3-4 years, we have enough responsiblity as it is, and trying to balance that with serious study and family commitments for 3 years sounds too much for me. I know I'd spread myself too thin, and would not do justice to any of the three things. If you feel that your situation (being able to handle multiple commitments over a long period of time) is similar to mine, please re-think the part time option.
I say this because an MBA probably more to do with the passion you put into it, rather than book study... it's not how many books you read, but how much you absorb and implement... it's not just a degree, it's a way of thought. So I don't think doing it part time really does it justice.
However, I DO think that doing it from a 'brand name' institute makes sense... an MBA is an investment of a lifetime... aiming for the best we can is sensible, in my opinion.
In that case, I would say, give the GMAT, aim for the IIM A or IIM C or ISB 1 year programs... it would balance out the time and commitment levels... you would be out of the workforce for only a year, would have good placement facilities from the institute, and have a brand name stamp too.
I'm saying this because I've never really been impressed by all the 'part time' MBAs that I've met... but then, I've never met one from one of the IIMs, so that maybe just my perception.
I hope I haven't added to your confusion!!!
