What's up with KAPLAN?

Hello guys,

I am fairly new to this forum. I just completed the Kaplan classroom course and am still enrolled in the online course. Hence, I took many Kaplan CATs online and have been scoring around 600-610 every time. I will be taking the actual GMAT in one week and these score are making me very depressed since I am targeting a score in the 660-690 range.

Are the Kaplan CATs significantly harder than the actual exam ,or are they just low scoring?

I have the official GMATPrep CD which has 2 full lenght tests and I will be taking those in the next 4 days.

I am in a very tough situation MENTALLY, so please share all your experiences with KAPLAN, either positive or negative.

yes theyb are../. Kaplan's tests are usually harder than the normal GMAT.... so jus chill and try other tests too n see how u r faring!!even in the worst case, all u need to do is to concentrate doubly hard on ur GMAT day and pull it off.. there are lots of people who have scored poorly in practice tests and have pulled it off in the actual test... so dont worry!!

Just forget the Kaplan tests. Consider them as only what they are - practice tests. GMATprep test will be the real indicators. Give ur best shot with these 2 tests and you'll know where you stand.

To answer ur question - yeah! Kaplan tests ARE harder than the GMAT tests.

interesting comments. i have actually had a different experience. what i score on the Kaplan CATs are almost identical to my scoring on the GMATPrep. not too much of a difference for me. I had not heard going into it that the tests were harder. If that is the case that is great for any who wants to take advantage of their higher score guarantee. cool stuff!

i actually scored 620 and 650 on my last 2 KAPLAN CATs respectively. so im getting better i guess. and guys on this site who were scoring around 620-650 range on KAPLAN, ended up scoring above 700 on the actual GMAT only days later. so i am a little more hopeful.

on a similiar note, does anyone know how Kaplan's Ultimate Practice Test scores? i haven't taken it yet but i am looking forward to trying it out.

kaplan's ultimate practice test is NO DIFFERENT than a regular kaplan cat, only that you actually get to take in the testing center where you will be taking the real GMAT. so you get to experience how it is like at the testing center, however the questions are kaplan questions, it is actually kaplan cat 5. i just took it 2 days ago. scored 590. took another kaplan cat yesterday, scored 620. and took another kaplan cat this morning, and got 650.

How do i intermpret this

finished og-11 and kaplan verbal workout
got 710 and 730 on gmat prep tests
preped for 2 more weeks and gave kaplan test and scored 560 on it
did the worst in SC.
I am really depressed.

I am giving gmat in april 1st week aand aimint 720+ please help.
what do i need to do in this last week to get to my target.

You've bumped up a pretty old thread. Therefore locking it.

Final words of adviceont believe the Kaplan score. You can safely add atleast 100points to your score. Their scoring algo is way off.
