This is srikanth. I'm too planning to take GMAT. I'm dont know how to start the preparation and whether to join in an institute for GMAT? Can any one suggest is it really necessary to join in coaching for GMAT and how much time should I take to attempt the exam.
i have just strated preparing. going thru princeton review now. heard its good to start with. even i am totally confused whether to join coaching for the same.
Guys - List of some of the books which will help in GMAT
OG ( Official Guide) - 11th edition - trust me its a must.
Kaplan - premier edition - 2006
Kaplan - Verbal Workbook
Princeton review.
Kaplan 800
Barron's Guide
Can also use OG maths and verbal work book if you have the time.
If all the above materials are done successfully, then cracking the GMAT should not be a problem. Also in my opinion a sincere study of 2-3 hrs a day for 2 months should do the trick.
Also please note that GMAT is not as tough as CAT and you must avoid using CAT materials.
If you are looking for August 2007 admission - you must give your GMAT latest by September so as to be ready for the deadlines.

Hi
Me too thinking of taking the GMAT this come december so that i can apply for 08 admissions.
I am clueless about how to prepare for the whole thing. Have been reading Simba's article on the same.
Are prep classes all that helpful ?
Recently a lady called me up from Hughes directway education and asked if i am interested in in the GMAT preparatory course from the Princeton review
are they any good ? the fee is kinda steep at 23k too
Also anybody have any idea about the kind of preparation time required for working guy.
