The erasable plastic pad and marker were ok. But, I would have prefered pen+paper.

Do you guys have any idea why these ppl do not use paper/pen? Is it like wasting natural resources or something?

This my friend is Cost Cutting.
They'll erase the plastic pads and re use them again and again and again, instead of having to buy paper for our scribblings

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up .

If you want to increase your success rate just double your failure rate

Re: GMAT Query Centre - 05-10-2006, 12:04 AM

Hey frnds,

Pls guide me about the foll points/concerns i faced while registering for the gmat. I am yet to register, so pls help. People who have recently registered, or others..

1st Page is fine with general info as address etc, but the page which asks about undergraduate info. In state only delhi is mentioned and neither my college nor university is listed when i search for it, then going by GPA conversion table, my engg % of 60 converts to 1.0!! Which is far below requirement of any colleges i'll be planning to apply for.

But all this info asked is not marked * (ie mandatory), so should i try & just skip these (if the system accepts, does it?) or else please guide as to what should be filled in these fields.. what had you guys done.

GPA as 1.0! ??

Usually colleges would give a GPA conversion. Check with your insti. If not go ahead and convert it according to a general thumb-rule. Its pretty detailed to explain over here so ask your batch-mates or seniors. I would say a number of 3.5 is more decent for 60%. In anycase, it is marked as "self-reported GPA" on your score-card so don't worry - nobody takes it seriously.

There would be a place for "Others" if your college is not the list. Choose that.

Do not skip. Mark as mentioned above. Colleges are not even bothered to look beyond the three-digit number

You should never convert your %age to GPA score. I checked out with 4-5 colleges including Haas and all of them told that we should write the actual %age. If your college does not give enough marks, you need to mention it in your application(like marks of topper or ur rank in the class)

True for applications but not true of GMAT. As I said, no body bothers with your self-reported GPA on the GMAT score-card but they are going to hit the roof if you convert it yourself and send it across in the actual application.

Wink Re: GMAT Query Centre - 06-10-2006, 07:49 PM

hi all...

i'm new to this thread..

i'm a 2006 engg graduate with ok acads(76% consistently) from a not so great college.. very few extra currics..
currently working in a reputed software mnc for 4 months now... here doing some really high quality work which i can showcase later...
i'm aiming for isb after 2 years, may be in 2009...so i have to apply by oct 2008..
my query is : i'm right now feeling more relaxed and free.. later by next year or so, it seems i might be onsite somewhere abroad or with more hectic work...so i feel like start preparing for gmat now itself and attend next year mid...will that be a good move.. i'm confused.. also will there be any relevance in the timing of the test (like more value for a recent gmat score).. also give me some inputs for making up in lack of extra currics..

somebody please advise...

regards and cheers.....
