please let us know what specialisation ur opting... to start with... of u are looking for sure shot for ur marks... consider univ of akron which has rolling admissions and san deigo state univ ... these are below ur actual levels but will fetch u sure shot admissions with aid... so i guess u can consider them considering the fact that the aid deadline has passed in several univs

check out if the aid dealines are still on in the univ u r applying... usually, aid deadlines are in jan itself or feb..in some cases like Minnesota its up at dec or even nov... so if aid dealines arent up then i guess u'll get aid for ur marks in all 4 univs... also check out the research options available in the univ with respect to ur specialisation(for example... ur univ might be great in VLSI but not so much in say nanotechnology but both might be in Electrical Engg)... weigh up the pros and cons carefully... why are u applying to such lower ranked univ... check out some top univ which still accepts application.... keep posting...

well the aid deadlines are for need based aid....i guess merit based aids are open unless its mentioned ......................well i know i cant afford MIT neither will i b able to get admision....or for that matter..any of the top 10-12 unis.........and i got frends there .........and they say the uni doesnt matter much......make sure u get aid coz....thats wat hurts when u r in ur grad school........either u work extra hard part time or be a burden financially on ur family...............so i guess my stand is clear...............and yeah some of the top universities deadlines are up ...so got no choice dude

Re: A Guide to the GRE and Application for M.S. abroad - 10-02-2006, 06:04 PM

Hi guys...
here r my scores....
GRE-1480 (ver-680,quant-800);writing-4/6
TOEFL-283..writing-5.5
Dint even apply to the universities..was confident of getting into a top bschool in India but managed to screw my DI section in both CAT and XAT..
However managed a call from FMS-FT (bcoz fms dint have DI i suppose)
hope to convert it .

My advice
->finish barrorns atleast 20 days in advance
->read editorials regularly....this will take care of your SCs & RCs.
ALSo remember the Golden rule while managing ur time for verbal section-->The first few questions decide ur score
