hey thanks...i was looking for an even higher score, but you raised the bar too high with your 770!!

i havnt read that book, but i got curious when u compared me with it...and read the review on google. i must say, u got it right! it`s not exactly a compliment, but yeah, the central character does reflect a side of me...!

always a pleasure to help...keep in touch! you have plenty of time for gmat, u can easily manage a 750. i was planning to write in with more experiences, but i didn`t find time coz i was struggling against tight deadlines for round 2. now that i have abandoned applying for fall 2006, i have plenty of time at hand to write in....coming soon!

Hi crash...

That's a great score u have there ! I too cannot meet the deadline for Fall2006 so i'll be applying for the next academic yr. I have almost 30 months of work-ex and a gmat score of 770 ( I had 2 weeks to prepare for this coz i gave it after the CAT though like you i had the material much earlier).

Keep in touch...we can get in touch when we get down to the grind of apping.

Cheers
Gaurav

What thaa...!! u got a 770 with 2 weeks of prep?!!! u`re a genius man!

well...so we`re both on the same boat (except that with 770 and 4 years work ex, u have chances at much much better univs than i do). i`m pretty sure u can make it into the top 10-15. me, i think i`ll be better off in the 20-30 band. Will keep in touch, it`s great to have someone to look up to!

Will u be applying to US B-schools this year itself for batches starting 2006 or wait till 2007

is it possible for guys with 2 years of work-ex to get an admit in top US B-Schools?

I am a computer engineer graduated 2005 and have 4 months of work-ex. When do you think is the right time for me to give GMAT and apply to US univs???

cheers,
SH
sorry i didn`t reply to this earlier. As i said in my last post, i`m not apping this year...will wait for fall 2007. my opinion on your scene:

yes, it is possible to get into good schools with 2 yrs, but it`s an uphill task. i mean, 2 years is the minimum work ex required...and most ppl will have much more than 2 yrs ex. since u are apping with the minimum work ex, u better have some very strong achievements and differentiating factors in ur package that will make u stand out from the crowd. some community service, initiatives at work, some leadership exposure at work or outside, some interesting life experiences etc will be able to take u to good schools even with 2 years. but to be honest, top 10 may not be in ur reach for now...this is just a personal opinion, dont get discouraged...take it as a challenge.

if u aim to app in fall 2007, u shud take the GMAT around june-august 2006 and aim to apply in the early deadline of november. u`ll have better chances of admission in to good univs if u applied for 2008, but the decision is urs.

GMAT :610
Work Ex: 4 years as production engineer.
BE % : 73
it'll be a great help if any of you can tell me the probability of getting interview calls with this profile & scores.
hec, your overall profile is good, but the gmat score is way too low. i suggest u take the gmat again. sorry to be rude, but u may not get calls from ISB ao AIM, but GLIM might be possible. consult with the GLIM students on this forum.

sorry to all those who`ve PMed me but i havnt replied coz i`ve been a lil busy with my (now aborted) application attempt! will be putting up a prep material assessment soon.

Hi Crash,

The IIMs have decided to give me a chance and 6 of them :-)
This will definitely push any thoughts I have on apping to the backburner for now.

Regards,
Gaurav

wahaao! u have calls from all six IIMs?? mann, this thread is blessed by your posts!! getting 770 in 2 weeks was proof enough for your talent, but all 6 calls is simply brilliant!
Congratulations on your achievement and best of luck for ur GDs and PIs.

so what`re u planning to do about this? what if u get into IIMs...will u take it up? what abt US MBA dreams? honestly, if i had a choice between IIMs (yeah right!) and some good US mba, i`d go for US MBA. u already have work ex and excellent gmat score, u`ll easily get into a top 10-15, which is better than IIMs, that`s what i feel.

keep us updated and congrats on your achievement!
