I would percieve a disadvantage - if at all there is any. & that would be that the present format (ETS) is a known devil. Everybody knows what to expect.
When the Pearson Vue format comes into picture in early 2006 it would be an unknown devil. However I feel if you are taking it in late Jan or feb onwards all those devils will be out in the forums. Just be sure to go thru lots of "just finished my GMAT" posts so that you know of any twists and turns.
All said and done the test is "Standardised" so if any changes are there - say in question difficulty level it will be normailsed in the scoring I think.
So dont go in expecting any advantage / disadvantage - just be prepared.
