I took the GMAT in september 2008 and scored a 740. I am a gmat tutor based in delhi and teaching GMAT for the last 4 years. I fully agree with you.But I beg to differ on a particular point.Much better than manhattan tests are the scoretop 30 sets-they are ultimate.
Besides one should also consult OG verbal and OG maths for GMAT.

Hi,

Can we make this thread active. Can we share our experience and help each others. I am also from Delhi and planning to take my GMAT in August.
Please advice if I should join a coaching institute or should I do self study.

I havent started a serious preparation yet but just given the prep test with zero preparation.

Pls pls..reply......

It all depends on your attitude. If you are self motivated and believe that you can score high then you need not join any classes.
Start with OG 11th/12th edition and follow closely forums like pagalguy.
Note every question posted by a fellow pagal and try to solve it independetly. I will suggest that you start your preperation with Critical Reasoning-that will slowly develop your interest in the GMAT (as Critical Reasoning is easy and interesting). Do about 2 Reading Comprehension (RC) passages daily from the OG once your interset develops. Please focus on understanding in RC section. Do not try to read fast or in a hurry-the whole concentration should be to understand the passage. With course of time as you practice speed will follow automatically.
In sentence correction buy/download manhattan guide and start with the chapter on parallelism, followed by comparison, modifiers, and so on.
Please do not buy a plethora of books. OGs are sufficient.

Hello

I am giving my gmat in June end (have to take a date). I will be starting my prep in a few days. I gave my GMAT prep practice test 1 and scored 700 (q49,v38 ).

I want to improve my score. Will be using the usual study material: OG10,OG11,Kaplan and Manhattan SC guide.

Best of luck to all of you!

Cheers!
Kushagra
