It all depends on your attitude. If you are self motivated and believe that you can score high then you need not join any classes.
Start with OG 11th/12th edition and follow closely forums like pagalguy.
Note every question posted by a fellow pagal and try to solve it independetly. I will suggest that you start your preperation with Critical Reasoning-that will slowly develop your interest in the GMAT (as Critical Reasoning is easy and interesting). Do about 2 Reading Comprehension (RC) passages daily from the OG once your interset develops. Please focus on understanding in RC section. Do not try to read fast or in a hurry-the whole concentration should be to understand the passage. With course of time as you practice speed will follow automatically.
In sentence correction buy/download manhattan guide and start with the chapter on parallelism,followed by comparison, modifiers, and so on.
Please do not buy a plethora of books. OGs are sufficient.
