CAT 2008 Group for Work ex's in delhi/NCR - 09-10-2007, 07:55 PM

I am starting this thread because of the simple reason "What we can not do alone, we will do it together". Cracking the CAT is a tough job anyday. For those of us who are slogging long hours in their offices, its all the more tougher

1. Stressed Out :- Being working not only takes away a lot of time from our daily lives, it gets taxing on the mind too. We dont have the luxury of waking up late, having a chat, being served in the bed, no worries except CAT exams, we simply don't have this kind of life. We slog very hard in the office, take some work back home, have long travelling hours. Most of us reach home at somewhere arnd 8.30, have dinner till 9.30, sit with our families and have to get ready for the next day

2. No coaching :- We cant think of joining any coaching institute, it would simply take away all the time we need for self studying. But then, unless we dont get that competitive spirit, the fire just doesnt gets turned on. We dont know what the world is up to.

3. Fear of Failure :- a) What if we couldnt clear the CAT after devoting x number of months or years? b) Better we had studied .net, PHP, DB2 etc. It would have atleast made us more recruitable for our next shift. c) Would i be able to leave my job and still be able to manage the funds for my family when i reach IIM's
All these thoughts keep crawling through our mind.

4. Girlfriends/Boyfriends/Spouse :- The last but still the worst. We need time for them. We have to find time for them otherwide we risk loosing them to some smart a$$ down street. But then, when do u get time for yourself and your studies.

If have read all this, it tells two things about you.

1. U r serious :- You are serious about cracking CAT, not just for the money you can make, but for the kind of responsibilities you think you can shoulder. I say this because you are also facing all these problems but still u want to go ahead

2. U know how to find the right tools :- In the vast sea of internet you found this thread and are moving in the right direction towards the mecca of management . the IIMs

Feel free to join this group.

Hey man,
How did it go? Yup, IMS is good- structured and sequencial learning curve, even for an old foggie like me.
diablo, may I give a very gentle approbation? Your tag-line about the black guy's a**e is a bit iffy, even to a brownie like me. Could you modify it a bit lest we project a racist attitude. Do take it in the right spirit ok? I have handled this in my job, and believe me, it can get serious.

IMHO, IMS is not good for GMAT. Its good only for CAT. Instead of opting for IMS its better to go for Self study or form some study groups.
If classes r essential 4 u then no go ******** but not IMs atleast.

Hi muk_s
U are right there. However, i checked out the IMS GMAT prep mtrl and found it pretty good, specly for maths. The verbal section is no gr8t shakes. In fact, the book shop chap told me that this mtrl is among the most popular ones 4 GMAT. I cud be wrong, though...
