Hi,

GMATPrep-ies, here's my dilemma.

Section = wrong/total, Scaled Score

Quant = 15/37, 49

Verbal = 12/41, 41

GMAT Score = 730.

Does it make sense. Only other aspect that I could factor in was that I had 2 mistakes in 1st 11 qs of Quant and 2 mistakes in 1st 21 qs of Verbal.

The Quant is definitely tougher than whatever you have seen elsewhere (tests I mean). If this is close to real GMAT - I better start working on Quant all over.

Anyways whatever that means I have some problems in working the damn thing.

1. How do you go back and see the scores again. Though I copied the figures after blinking at them a few times - I would like to see them again . But cant see a way to do that.

2. How do you get the answer explanations. The help window mentions a button - but it never appears in while reviewing. I though I will just ignore the scores and get down to reviewing but am at a loss.

3. Funniest Part - Where's my AWA Section response - I actually wrote for 30 mins each ! Dont see it anywhere. Any clue how to retrieve that

Advice / Suggestions - will be gr8 help.
Bye

Parag

Parag,

Did u give GMATprep or powerprep...
Is there anybody who's given both?
Also how can a pc test give u a score for the AWA unless u send the response over the internet.... So forget about the AWA score...

Someone tell me, Are the 4 tests (2 each) with different questions all together??

1) You cannot .. even in PP u cannot see ur scores again ..
2) There are no explainations given for the exam part.. only practice questions have explainations..
3) AWA is not scored .... if u have not finished the test (a option comes in the end that asks u ..u might now what i mean) that i think u should be able to review the essay.. but it would not be scored.

I also faced the same prb in GP2 where i had lot many quant probs wrong(12) and still got a scaled score of 49 ..i would still say that PP is more accurate in giving ur position as of now..

@DG: though questions are different in GP and PP but both have the same question bin : OG

Hi friends,

Hope you must have seen my ealrier mail after I took the GMATPrep 1 day b4 yesterday back.

Section = wrong/total, Scaled Score
Quant = 15/37, 49
Verbal = 12/41, 41
GMAT Score = 730.

To get over the confusion of the High No of errors vs the Score I went in for the PowerPrep 1 today as that was reported to be much more accurate and got the following.

Section = wrong/total, Scaled Score / percentile
Quant = 7/28, 45 / 82%
Verbal = 1/30, 45 / 98%
GMAT Score = 730. again.

If we take this as a critical reasoning qs my answer to the dilemma would be that in the GMATPrep test I had got most of my errors in the eliminated (future test qs) part.
What do you people think.

1st a simple Q.
What is the relationship between these 3.
a. All questions in OG 10
b. Questions in PowerPrep
c. Questions in Actual GMAT.

Other qs that comes to my mind are that though I have completed about 30% (combined Quant & Verbal) of the OG 11 and dont possess a Photographic memory - I could recognise a few questions in Powerprep 1 while I dont remeber doing that in GMAT Prep 1. It has also been established (saw stats in a Forum) that 60% of OG 11 is common to OG 10.

a. If you take PP 1 after doing OG 11 would it be representative of your final results - wouldnt your score be contaminated.
b. If the Qs bin for GMAT Prep 1 is not OG 11 then does it make GMAT Prep 1 more potent as in that case your scores are not contaminated (since no Common Qs)

I hope I am not confusing the whole thing but if Iam then please treat this as a Critical Reasoning Question

Waiting for some expert discussion.

Bye

Post gmat in a month's time - 11-09-2005, 12:49 AM

hi guys
i am taking gmat in a month;s time and have the foll prep material.
-Official guide 9th edition....is it too outdated??
-Barrons GMAT
-Kaplan 2004-2005 cd's
-prep material of CAT by IMS
Is the material enough??

is the Kaplan verbal work out good for verbal or the princeton verbal??
i am weak in the sentence correction part of the verbal section..so any suggestions how do i improve dat?i usually get 2 in 10 wrong from the OG.
also i havent taken many tests as of now....i had taken 1 test before starting prep and dat was a month back...scored 600 in that.

I am taking cat too in november...so can anyone suggest how do i plan the 2 months out.
I am doing most of my verbal practise from GMAT material and Quant from CAT material(coz i think CAT quant is tougher) and vice-versa for verbal.....

yup insane 9th edition is outdated and i suggest you stay away from barron's as far as possible .

i dont know how good or comprehensive the prep material of ims is , but i would suggest you to get your hands on og 10th or 11th edition as wel as kaplan gmat 800 .
best of luck

Forget Barrons. You should buy 10/11 edn of OG, and maybe Princeton review (I used it and its good). Forget CAT material, if you have strong quant skills. OG is the bible.

Solve all probs in OG..note your mistakes and revisit those questions again. That will help you a lot.
