Retake on 9th sep: prev score 640 - 18-08-2005, 02:30 AM

Hi Guys,

I am mechanical engnr working with Siemens for the last three years. I gave my GMAT on 18th July after 4 weeks of preparation that was done maily from OG and Kaplan. Got a score of 640 (V - 34, Q- 44) . The score sucks !
I have taken the date for the retake as 9th September and aiming for a score of 700 +. I have Princeton Review (Book + CD), Kaplan (Book + CD) and OG with me. And i am almost out of study material.
To all those learned and proven sages of verbal: Please guide me , how can i increase my score, basically F*** the MAT.
I need some recommendations on the study material and i need some computer tests for practice.

Have fun

I had scored.. um.. a 610 or a 620 @ my first shot at the GMAT with nil prep. Second time on I went on the score 720 and this entire shift was because of my Verbal scores, because my QA score remained the same

You may wanna take a look at Princeton/Kaplan - Verbal Workout and the new Verbal workouts by ETS which was recently released.

Hi,
I gave my gmat 2 days ago, scored 730. Whatever your plans are, make sure you do ALL the problems from OG, even if it means skipping office for the next 10 days
(sometimes it sounds unimportant, but its my recent experience that it will help you narrow down on the expected answers very quickly in the real GMAT)

good luck!

What was ur time breakup.. i.e amount of time taken in each section. I feel that u hurried thru ur Quant section revise few basic formulas and try improving ur Quant scores.. .. as every one says.. first 10 questions decide wher u stand.. Give a lot of time and possible do a recheck before confirming the answers.

Practice a few Hard math questions find ur weak areas. Me stressing on Math because u can make and break ur GMAT there.

Best of Luck

yep math is often highly trivialized in gmat .

even if one gets all the math question right and all verbal wrong his scaled score would be 51 which according to kaplan should fetch a score of 610 .

smashing the math section is extremely important for chaps seeking 700+
