Whats up with requests for soft copies and all forms of illegal stuff ? Are you guys really serious about cracking the GMAT, applying to a bschool ? Aware of the expenses etc ? Or is it cost cutting right from day one ?

Hi,

I fully understand ur concern abt book piracy. I wouldnt have done that but the problem I am facing is that I am in Japan currently and I finding it DAMNNN difficult to find English GMAT books here due to Language Barrier.

Hope u understand and provide me the soft copy if possible. If its against the laws or ethics of this group so request not to violate it.

Thanks anyways,
Prashant

Soft copies are piracy. Period. Its tough to find the books in India too. Why don't you try an online store like amazon.com or any of the others that deliver books to japan ?

HI PG.....Dont worry, most of us understand the piracy funda....its just that the 11ed is not available in any of the major metros of the country......and asking any of the sites, is not an issue except for the time factor....

dont worry we love this forum too much, to put it into any legal wrangle either...

Hey people,

With all the requests for the pirated PDF's... Why doesnt some one who has it just add it as an attachement along with their post. Saves everyone the trouble and everyone can easily download it ( or is it against the forums policy ) ??

Regards,

Roshan

yes roshan, tht was very bright..but its simply against the forum policies..!

this is for all those pdf' requests --> FYI OG is not published in softcopy edition..it was for some kind soul who had compiled a softcopy for 10ed(verbal section being the most popular)..and had it circulated on some other forums..so all those fellas out there requesting for pdf'(OG 11th ed)..have kinda got hope in a hell.

it would be neat if we restrict ourselves from posting such requests, which i think is detoriating the quality of this thread..n instead stick to expressing personal opinions about the OG 11th ed..also all the leading bookstores in metros, by now should have it on their shelves..n option of buying it online from sites like amazon is always available.

i hope i have made a point, n hence forth all those request wackos will think twice before posting any more void pleas..its a community for US for the MASSES..so do yourself some good by, obeying the code n help maintain the quality.

regards,
dj.

some insight into the OG 11ed

some insight into the OG 11ed - 22-08-2005, 04:40 PM

Here is what I found

OG 11th Edition
1. SC has only 138 Questions, I compared about 12-22 questions they are different. So it seems like SC questions in the 11th edition are different
2. CR 124 Questions. Compared first 10 , two repeats encountered

3. RC 141 Questions, I compared first 5 passages and one was repeat form OG10 but the order was different.

So it seems like there may be couple of questions that are repeat from OG10.

The Princeton Review says, "The 11th Edition of The Official Guide for GMAT Review will debut this summer. The 800 questions in the Guide are retired GMAT questions, most of which have not appeared in previous editions."

Also it says, "GMAC will also be releasing two supplemental texts - The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review and The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review. Each guide will have about 300 questions. The questions in the supplements differ from those in the 11th Edition, though all can be found in the 10th Edition."

Conclusion: og 11th ed is the set which may or may not contain questions from 10th ed..but when og 11th edition is clubbed with the new supplements..there is no need for 10th og ed (warning: the above conclusion is entirely my perception n not based on any facts)

Explanations of all the answers is nicely structured, easy to read and review as compared to the single paragraph explanation found in OG10.

Each explanation identifies the topic being tested. This is again a Plus.

The book is quite heavy due to use of nice quality paper.

I compared the Verbal Review Book by reading first couple of SC questions and they seems to be repeat from the OG10th edition.

Also the difficulty level of quant section has been raised in the 11th ed(view of one of the testakers, whom i got to talk to)

PS: i dont have any of the above mentioned books, but had a chance to compare them at ma friends place..who had arranged for all owners to be present wth the books, while i was around.

regards,
dj.
