got 660 in powerprep, taking gmat in oct - 27-07-2005, 10:13 AM

hey!

I took a powerprep test as an assessment, to see where i stand. got 660 ( 36 in VA and 45 in QA)
was kinda disappointed,, cause i really hope to score 720+ , and am worried if this is too weak a start...

I wanna know how much is a good average for quant and va , so that i can start working on them accordingly.

Hi Risque,

If this was your first (or as we call it diagnostic) test then 660 sounds pretty decent. Given your score at this stage you have a good potential to crack 720 and above. Just a couple of points that you should take a note of:

1. The cliche - spend atleast 3-4 minutes on first 7-10 questions in both the sections.
2. Take atleast 2-3 mock tests each week till Oct. You may then reserve the last week for Mock-tests only.
3. Be extremely - extremely calm and relaxed. GMAT is much more than just writing skills, good verbal and mugged formulas. It's more of a stamina check through those 4 tiring hours....

Do well n be good!

All the best.

D.
