here are some opinions based on the article:

>well, be it Blair or Brown, India's soaring economic growth can not be ignored by anyone and it seems perfectly politic to acknowledge a rising power like us and to work towards strengthening ties between the two nations in multiple ways.

>His "job is done" argument on his policy for Iraq seems tenable as doing anything dramatic here would not only be politically inexpedient but, would be all the more insidious for his focus on domestic issues.

>All in all, Brown's stint augurs well for India.

I agree!

When the Democrats went out of power, a lot of people speculated that Bush wont be as "Pro-India" as Clinton was.. but as it turned out Bush did pretty well... I mean I know he had to support Pakistan .. but thats coz he HAD to... he didn't have an option.. But he wasn't as "anti-India" that people thought he would be... Like George Bush, Sr.

Some opinions based on the article:

>The initiative taken by the leaders here is commendable and the Iranians seem keen to nail it down now. Unless, someone falters at the last stage, this deal should go through. Moreover, it has the potential to bring about multifarious gains to all the parties involved. One one hand, this economic collaboration can kickstart a few industrial consortiums entailing better economic ties and on the other, it'll invigorate the social and political relations esp between India and Pakistan.

>America has a significant clout in the arena of int'l politics. Not only would India have to take a firm stance here but it should be trenchantly clear on- 'where to draw the line?'

>Once, the issue of Gas Pricing settles this development will be a great breakthough affecting the regional political scenario for the better.

nice work dude...
I am adding some more facts based on my knowledge of the issue.
1. The transit fee that is to be paid to pakistan for allowing the conveyance of gas through it's land is another contentious issue, which is yet to be resolved.
2. When the project was first conceived, it was done with the stated aim of extending Pak-Iran grid to turkmenistan to allow caspian gas to flow in and it could be also extended eastward to Myanmar and China , thereby forming a strong south asian grid, which is very cost effective.

Re: Analyze "The Hindu" Editorial - 05-07-2007, 12:59 AM

am adding a fresh article.... this one's really good.... a classic science vs astrology debate..
The Hindu : Science, astrology and openness

observations:
1. The article is a scathing criticism of the UGC's proposal to include astrology as part of the curriculum for science students. The authors seem irked by the comment made by the UGC that we need to treat astrology with an open mind.
2. The authors clearly elucidate how exacting scientific inquest is.
3. The authors explain why you don't have to be prejudiced against astrology to understand that it doesn't offer a remotely reasonable alternative to astronomy.
Here are some words which i felt were CATish..
1.Polemical : Controversial
2. Epistemology: the branch of philosophy that deals with the nature of knowledge, it's scope and validity.
3. Delineate: define/describe precisely.
4. Edifice: the complex conceptual structure(in this context)
