Hey guys,

I have an idea!! Lets start a Complete-the-story thread, where each member would be obliged to use at least 2 uncommon words in their contribution to the story.

Let me start with the following:

While the populace was sleeping in the village, the animals in the thick forests of Sundarban were warming up for their daily hunt. Mowgli, woke up with a yawn. He cleared the gossamer that spiders had spun around him. He checked his forearm lacerated by his own "panja" boomerang. Suddenly, he heard....

Gossamer: Cobweb
Lacerate: to cut or gash the skin so that the wound is deep with irregular edges

A few rules to abide by(to make it easier)
1. Please do put the addendum number in the title of the post. Makes it easier for others to follow
2. Please make sure to add the words and their meanings

a heavy voice calling out his name:'MOWGLI'!! he sprung up, alert, and tried to judge the direction from where the sound came. not being able to get the direction, he was about to settle down in his tranquil seat, when he heard a raucious roar, and was flabbergasted to find a thick-haired , massive bear looking down upon him, he was about to run, when ..

a cacophony filled his ears and his obscured feelings returned to.....

cacophony : raucous, noise
obscured : hidden, not clearly understood or expressed

his rended forearm, where the blood was now getting mixed with his sweat. He flew his panja in the direction of the noise. The panja returned without hitting its target. He could feel the irritation in his wound by this time. Without getting perturbed, he swung his panja again. This time....

rended: split, torn apart
perturbed: disturbed, anxious

wonderful idea friends.but just a suggestion.why dont we write the antonyms as well as the synonyms for words used?

it hit the bear. The bear made a hasty retreat back to the woods. He now moved towards the direction from where the sound was coming. As he came out in the open,he could see a person at a distance. His wizened countenance told him that it must be...........

Wizened: skinny,thin
Countenance: facial features

"panja" went straight up n what came down took the bear by surprise; enough for mowgli to slither away from bear's eyes. In no time he was on a tree, in a furtive manner away from Big B's eyes. But fate had something else for him......


slither: To slip and slide, as on a loose or uneven surface
furtive: marked by quiet and caution and secrecy; taking pains to avoid being observed

and just when he cerebrated that he was now out of danger,the branch of the tree on which he was positioned started to break free from the tree and mogli knew that a fall was inevitable and pondered as to how he would face big b.

just then mogli heard resounding noises from deep inside the jungle.this added further to his quandary and he became disquieted and.......
