I have observed one thing through some of the mock exams I have taken - Elimination technique often works well in VA. However, it also requires an above average vocab.
About RC, I think that one must be very careful while selecting the passage. Looking at the questiond first really helps. One must select a passage has more of direct questions. Because, at least with me, in case of indirect questions, it happens always that more than one alternatives appear correct. Tickmarking important parts of a passage while reading it also helps.

i'm agree with ur analysis
knocking out the inappropriate and marking important words/sentence/phrase of para helps in marking right answer
In my mock paper for verbal i found it is quite helping
