hey guys,

i think many of us are with the opinion that one has to mug a dict. full of words to excel in exams... well i dunno bout others but for CAT this is quite unnecessary.. what is more important though is to understand the contextual meaning of words... and for that one suggestion is to read editorials and mark the difficult words then look em up and understand their contextual usage... this way u get to know bout the words, you spruce up ur GK - for GD/PI and you can escape the wordlist

A good vocab is a boon not only for the exams but i think it might help u take a level better in your thinking and presentability if you actually start using the words in real life.
Hell its boring to read it off a list... but tolerable...

I double that,

vocabs is a thing which can only improve if follow three things

first is reading,second is more reading and third is even more reading.

just... read whatever u have,fiction,non-fiction,editorials all help.
i believe if u ar reading a book an author uses the same uncommon word again and again and and after the first time,we get the feeling of the word.

and vocabs is the main thing in CAT,not only in direct ques. but in rc as well,
bcoz.... the main sentences ar punctuated with those diff. words.

I feel that you missed out usage of words in conversations...

FYI guys there is a site Doctor Dictionary.. Subscribe to the mailing list and get a word a day with all crap like usages etc packed in the mail...

Maybe it will help...

Better that cramming up word lists which amounts to fugacious knowledge..

Also get a Online Dictionary like Merriam -Websters 11th Collegiate Dictionary it is good and do read online newspaper from indiatimes.com. So if you come across some unknown word you can do a quick search from this dictionary and the above mentioned software.
