My take on medulla post ::::

1) Spelling of soigne is wrong .. kept on searching in my brain but result fail infact not a word in dictionary when i searched in the google ..

anyhow no problem dudi...
meaning is polished or well groomed so oppposie is rustic

2) Recreant means a A coward. hence valiant which means brave (Possessing valor; brave) confession didinot know the meaning searched in the dictionary so no points for this

3) distaff means feminine so opposite is masculine

4) adventitious means not a part of formally hence the opposite is Integral

5) grimace means bad glooomy(A sharp contortion of the face expressive of pain, contempt, or disgust.) and the opposite is smile
