i generally attempt rc without reading the passage ... try to attempt as many direct questions i see ... this thing develops over time ... in any paper i have sat down with with 4 to 5 passages ... 10 to 15 direct qn's r there ... and if i really find that a passage has many direct q'ns ... then try to go for all the questions of the passage ... then again u need to attempt the verbal part pretty well around 20 to 23 , making no of attempts around 40

Re: cracking RC section - 22-08-2004, 01:04 PM

well sumwhere on the forum i found an ebook with tips on speed reading.. dont knw abt others but i have found it pretty useful... i speed read evrything i get my hands on mags, npapers, books, online stuff... still getting the hang of it...but have realised that ive inc attempts in my RC section with corressponding inc in accuracy

abt the cracking part...the golden rule is select the easiest passages...as puneet said...the ones with more direct qns or descriptive passages time 5 mins each...in 10 mins u'll have 8 qns odd answered (if u read quick) i basicaaly try and avoid inferential types qns....

next for the tough RCs (philoophy types) i read one para...scan qns...read next para ..scan qn and in my exp it has been tht most qns of such RCs are concentrated in the first few paras... even if i get 50% of the qns i leave and take the next RC...

with above method you can atleast scan all RCs and attempt almost all sitters

one caveat tho' this requires a lot of practice

Work hard ... Party harder
