Re: record u'r reading speed here - 24-06-2004, 09:32 AM

I read the passage like I would in a test and took 1min 5 sec. That's a speed of ~600 wpm.

On a scale of 1-10, I would rate myself 8 or so. I don't read a huge no. of novels, but I read 3 or 4 newspapers everyday and loads of magazines every week.

Increase your reading speed by using this tool - 23-06-2005, 06:59 PM

Hi all,

I've made a tool which people may find useful, especially in developing their concentration while reading. If you all can try it out and tell me how useful it is, then maybe I can work on some more functionalities.

Using it is simple enough. You start the program, select a file which you want to read (it only supports .txt files currently), select the speed and the number of words

Finally my programming skills will be of some help to society!

Hope you find it useful.

Thanks,
kaa

Thats a speed of abt 540 wpm. Pretty good?

But had it been the CAT, im sure I wouldve been around 450 - 480 .
No i dont regress.

Cheers

teehee..interesting experiment this. its been a while since i was RCing for CAT, so was a bit rusty..made it in 30.70 seconds according to my mobile stopwatch. that makes it around 1200 wpm. fairly decent, by my un-humble standards.

but, the bragadaccio apart, i would seriously recommend forgetting about reading speeds and concentrating more on comprehension speeds. a high reading speed does not necessarily translate into high marks from RC. its a wonder that legions of CAT aspirants have made it their bug-bear for so long in their prep

anyway..to each his own, then

cheers
QE
