Hey adi, although the motive is good, there is already a thread running for Cat 08.Its not even 09.There are exams going on in the current season and so,not much activity. The official quant thread for 09 has also been closed for the same reason.
If the mods allow, its fine with me.
My take on the answers,
1)E
2)D
3)A
4)A
Hope you understand.

@adiG...Its too early to start a CAT 09 thread especially since season 08 isnt finished. We can re-open this thread once the FMS exam is over. Till then, continue on 08 thread.

Hi,
I think the answer to this is E.
I am a little skeptical about the rest of the question as well. Shouldn't it be
"Although a fruit can no longer grow once it is picked, it continues to respire for some time..."
Regards,
Sudha.

perfect ! good shot.
you made it.
I'll appreciate if you also explain why other choices are discarded.
btw, here is just another version ...
we are comparing actions and hence as is preferred
(A) similar to the way human beings breathe [similar – is used to check the similarity between two things – eliminate it]
(B) similarly to human beings who are breathing [ similarly creates run-on – eliminate it]
(C) just like the breathing of human beings [ like is used to compare two nouns – eliminate it]
(D) as human beings when breathing [Hold it]
(E) just as human beings do when they breathe [Hold it]
Between D and E – “as” is used for clauses – but D has no verb
Answer: E
share your explanation as well ....lets us know how did you break it
feel free to post
thanks
