Solution Implex - PJ - 06.10.2008 - pg153
1)Clearly A is the opening sentence and D continues it, so left with 2 options The CE link is also evident. Hence option 4
2)DE link is evident, we have 4 options left. A carries the thought in E and C introduces a new idea and B completes it. Option 4
3)C is the opening sentence, E continues it, only option with CE link is option 4

Question 5
A.What exactly is an oracle and how does it work, we wonder.
B.Like our own fortune tellers, the oracle claimed to communicate the wish of the gods through the priestess.
C.In ancient Greece, common folk and royalty alike routinely consulted the oracle on things sublime and trivial. They would want to know, for instance, when to plant their crop, when to begin a journey, whether to go into battle, or whom to marry.
D.It is not unlike modern-day fortune tellers and astrologers whom the gullible and the troubled consult to get an inkling of what destiny holds in store for them.
E.The presiding deity at Delphi was Apollo, and he spoke to devotees through a priestess, called Pythia after a python that was slain by Apollo at the same spot.

C.A normal man would cry no más. But José brims with machismo, stubbornness and, most crucially, a thrifty streak.
D.Every so often, my friend José likes to remind me of his brief flirtation with bulimia.

C.In 1971, Don DeLillo published his first novel, Americana, within which a novelist, not the main character, fantasizes about his future life.
D.But thirty-six years after Americana, his influence on succeeding generations of American novelists has become and remains tremendous.
