Please post those questions. Lots of people have problems in these types of questions. I for one fail to judge the tone properly. A simple example can be seen for this relatively easy question, you put up. The answers seem to vary a lot.

So please post these type of questions till you run out of them or till we all become good at it

Thanks

Hi Puys,

Try this questions.

Today, if people were asked what they fear most, I am sure the ubiquitous mosquito would rank higher than terrorists. such is its reach that even Z-plus protection cannot save you from it. Metal detectors, explosive detectors, sniffer dogs, even biometrics - it can pass unseen through our most evolved security systems.____________
  1. Recently, I experienced what its terror can reduce you to.
  2. That's why my wife warned me, "Beaware of the day biter".
  3. And it has literally robbed people of their sleep.
  4. It is a deadly weapon of nature.
  5. It really is a marvell of nature.
I will post the answers tomorrow.
All the Best...

medulla-PC5-4/7/2008-pg 103

Answer (3)

I sense that the passage (read author) is accusing the 'mosquito'. Also he seems to be discussing it with respect the people and not as a personal problem to him.
1 and 2 is out because of the above reason.
4 is too general. 5 seems irrelevant here.
Hence (3).

I too think Answer is (3) .. relation to people is to be higlighte at the end..

1. states a new statement going away from passage..
2. No need of Wife to to alarm if he himself is describing.. although its personal.. Overall no need of it.
4. Nature's weapon .. not related to rest of para..
5. --- do ------

Hence 3 as it relates it with people and why they feel its terror.. they are losing sleep..

3) is the correct answer because it properly concludes the passage which starts with the fear of people i.e mosquito. After elaborating the deadly effects of mosquito the passage must end with the consequence that it has on people i.e robbing them of their sleep.

i wud go with C
in the para the author is telling us how mosquito has harmed the human race and C carries this point forward.
A sudden flow of new information. hence eliminated
B can be easily eliminated.
D not related.
In E mosquito has been appreciated which is contrary to what is said in para.

  2. That's why my wife warned me, "Beaware of the day biter".(again getting personal)
  3. And it has literally robbed people of their sleep.(fine)
  4. It is a deadly weapon of nature.(it.. weapon .. compared with terrorists not ak 47's)
  5. It really is a marvell of nature.(suddenly i am an angel.. from satan..)
I will post the answers tomorrow.
All the Best...
