Some are predominantly physicalistic heroes, some primarily intellectual, some primarily intellectual, some are excellent examples of mind-body integration; some are grand scale characters towering through a work of fiction, whether on the printed page, stage or screen—while some perform their great notable deeds in actual existence. More prosaically, some are male, some are female, some are white, some are black, some oriental; many are Americans, many are not; some lived in 20th century, many lived in the past, hopefully many are yet to come.______________
  • And yet, through the teeming multiplicity of individualized differences, there runs a recurrent thread, a distinguishing essence that unites them
  • And yet, there are many whose heroism is never discovered or celebrated.
  • And yet, we feel the need to classify their heroism into categories which trivializes their contribution to mankind and does not do them justice.
  • And yet, heroism is considered as an immanent quality which is possessed only by a few.
  • And yet, there are those amongst us who find inspiration through the most common and ordinary personalities.
Most of you got it right...
answer is option 1...

I feel one can reasonably assume to be good in a particular subject if one does consistently well in it. A few good performances here and there would amount to good luck. Also if u r able to handle diff styles of verbal ques and RC's equally well that means ur preparation is well rounded off because in CAT one can't be sure of what kind of questions are going to come. So ask urself these questions and only u urself can judge whether ur good in something or not.

I will say add some vocab to it.
see this:

what is theology
what is dogma

if you knew the meanings of words like above, the RC in CAT 2006 on Critical Attitude would have been a cake walk for anybody.

Try exploring as many new words related to different fields (esp philosophy)

Hi all, it seems after seeing the answers posted by u and also the try given by me,,,,

we all need to work hard on vocab..though the stress has shifted to comprehension rather than vocab but we must not forget that a good vocab helps in fast comprehension.

So will be posting another test on same lines. Try it and note the words that u come across.

Exercise4.doc

Will post the answers soon by evening.
