Usage Part 2: JUST..happy reading 1)Time
'Just' often emphasizes the idea of 'at this moment' or 'close to the present'.
I'll be down in a minute-I am just completing my lunch.
Harry has just phoned.
In expressions such as 'just after', 'just before', and 'just when', just suggests closeness to the time in question.
I saw him just after lunch. (=very soon after dinner.) 2)'Only', 'scarcely'
Just can mean 'only', 'scarcely', 'nothing more than'.
Complete dinner set for just Rs 500/-.
I just want somebody to stay with him.
There was only just enough light to read by.
Could/Can I Just....? can make a request seem less demanding.
Could I just use your bicycle? 3)Exactly What is the time by your watch?--It's just 2 o'clock.
Thanks. That's just what I wanted to know. 4)Emphasizer
Just can emphasize other words and expressions, with the sense of 'simply', 'there's no other word for it'.
You are just amazing.
I just love your bike. | | | | | The Following 11 Users Say Thank You to tzsrivastava For This Useful Post: | anish211 (19-07-2008), ankitgarg20 (03-05-2008), creative.insane (18-07-2008), harsh.leen (24-09-2008), hsonik0810 (22-02-2008), kkrayush (19-05-2008), no signal (25-02-2008), Phoenix12 (23-06-2008), tuhi111 (24-07-2008), vars.jat (20-02-2008), venCat08 (06-08-2008)

USAGE 3: Whether and if 1) Indirect questions Whether and if both introduce indirect questions
I’m not sure whether/if I’ll have time.
I asked whether/if she had any mails for me.
2) After verbs that are more common in formal style, whether is preferred.
We discussed whether we should close the café.. 3)In formal style, whether is preferred in two part question with or.
The Board Of Directors have not decided whether they will invest or not.
4)If indirect question is fronted, whether is used.
Whether I’ll have time I’m not sure at the moment.

@ naresh.
Please post your reasoning for 2nd and last one for second set .Unless we understand the reason why the other options are wrong ,we can not be gud in sentence correction.
I think we are posting in wrong thread, there is another link for SC for CAT-2008.All the SC questions should be posted there and the usages(as given vy tzshrivastva)or other thingslike FIJ should be posted in this thread i.e. VA Guide for CAT 2008.
@ all..
those who post the answers for the 3rd SC test should post in SC link. http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/englis...at-2008-a.html (Sentence Correction for CAT 2008)
And that too with explanations .

what say puys?
Also, if is used when we have more than one condition e.g
I don't know if i will go to movie or park or restraunt.
correct me if i am wrong.
