Ok Puys I think it is time to start sentence correction thread for 2008 as I didn't find any.
Rules are same as that of Sentence Correction for CAT 2007. http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/englis...at-2007-a.html (Sentence Correction for CAT 2007)
This thread is dedicated only to Sentence Correction. There are still many days to CAT 2008 so by then we would've seen almost every kind of sentence and the ways to correct it.
....... Lets try to frame sentences so as to cover all possible aspects.

3. He is one of the best artists who has ever lived. | O.k. I am posting the answers and will try my best to explain them. Correct: 1) I, You and Mohit must take the blame for the failure of the project. Explanation: Well , it is a kind of gentleman thing to do & at the same time is also grammatically correct. Whenever taking a blame for something, the order should be Self (first person), You (second person) and then third person (Here, Mohit). Correct: 2) Each of us did not like the movie. Explanation: This is a correct sentence. I only posted this as it seems incorrect and better options are None of us liked the movie,All of us, etc. but the above sentence is grammatically correct and hence no correction required. Correct: 3) He is one of the best artists who have ever lived. Explanation: He here is a part of a group ( artists) for which we are using have.
Anyone wanting more clarification can ask me further.

@ cute.sid Correct: 1) I, You and Mohit must take the blame for the failure of the project. Explanation: Well , it is a kind of gentleman thing to do & at the same time is also grammatically correct. Whenever taking a blame for something, the order should be Self (first person), You (second person) and then third person (Here, Mohit).
Suppose it is not a case of blame,it is general like Mohit, you and I should complete this work.
In this case will there be any ORDER of persons i.e.first person ,second person and then third person.
Thanks ....

hi there..!!! vars.jatt,on casual perusing thru the thread i found your reply...i found a minor error in the secong half of your reply...the order of usage of personal pronous(first, second and third person) depends of the TONE of the sentence- by tone i mean whether the sentence is +ve ,-ve or neutral. If the sentence is +ve/neutral,the order of personal pronouns is- 2-3-1and if the sentence is negative then - 1-3-2 . now the explanation in the first half of your post is correct , bcoz the sentence is -ve ,we are talking about 'blame' , hence the order should be 1-3-2.but in a eutral sentence like the one you phrased the order should be 2-3-1, to rephrase your sentence --- you,Mohit and i should commplete this work..open to discussion and feedback,,,regards..dkny.jakhar Quote:
