though I am not sure, I think we can use "Many More" and whc is not redundant. I actually did a google for sentences with 'many more' and got some. but here "four times" & "more" seems redundant. So not sure about it.
the reason y i went with the option D is because of the idiomatic xpression "as many as" and in A 'there' is missing which is making the sentence wrong.
anyway gud point dude. We can discuss it ahead.
Also for 189 -- i am not able to decipher hw it is changing the meaning (may be due to hangover ),can u be a bit elaborative?
and also thnks that u pointed out mistakes in my answers - whc helps ppl like me a lot to improve

My take:
186.
(E) to allow members of the jury to go home at the end of each day rather than be confined to
187.
(C) Americans were killed than those who
(the use of "as" says it is not a comparitive degree. "more" and "than" should either come together or should not come at all )
188. As a result of medical advances, many people that might at one time have died as children of such infections as diphtheria, pneumonia, or rheumatic fever now live well into old age.
(B) who might once have died in childhood
(We always use "who" for the people)
189. (B) as an expert does, which may be used for purposes such as diagnosing equipment breakdowns or deciding whether to authorize a loan
(taking into considerstion parallelism etc)
