as is quite obvious, the answer is 'E' as both the subjects that are being compared by a similarity in their property( in this case , helium atoms and other inert gases) must be placed as close as possible for the comparison to be effective.
Also ,here , in the sentences A and B, the usage of 'as' is being used like 'because' which is wrong in this case.
