Hi Puys.

Here is today's editorial:

In defence of Salwa Judum-Editorial-Opinion-The Times of India

The article talks about the Salwa Judum. Salwa Judum is a controversial anti-Naxalite civil militia formed in 2005, to bring the area dominated by Naxalites back under government control. The Salwa Judum is, according to various human rights organizations such as the People's Union for Civil Liberties, a government-backed organisation, supported by the Chhattisgarh government.

The tribal were harassed by government officers, forest officers and politicians. They joined Naxalities for the help. But tribal were soon exploited by Naxalites. So they have come together to fight the Naxalites.

What do you think people? Is this right?? SC has sent a court notice to Chhattisgarh Government asking it to stop supporting this group. Why they created their own military rather than going to government to ask for help?
What is the root cause of the Salwa Judum? Doesn't it prove that government is unsuccessful in helping and protecting tribal?

Hi Puys,

Here is todays editorial article:

LEADER ARTICLE: Bereft Of Ideas-Editorial-Opinion-The Times of India

This article is written by Meghnad Desai who is the member member of British House of Lords. writer says partition is India's birthmark. It has spoiled India's Image. Congress blamed Jinnah and the British for the partition and spread the myth that Congress including Gandhi and Nehru were innocent. Congress created the dividing line in India giving Muslims special status. Writer argues that congress has done this for votes. But the fact is that there were and are congress leaders who have done unethical things including Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The secularism of congress is deceptive and is only for votes.

But the Muslims in India today have understood this false image of congress now and hence they have voted against congress in UP and now in Karnataka. Today Muslims want to stay as Indian citizens and not as 'minority'. They want education and secure jobs. Muslims will elect the government which assures better economic performance and not 'minority' status. They want government to erase the birthmark of India.

Newspaper editorials as preparatory material for competitive exams is overhyped.

A balanced well-rounded approach may stand candidates in good stead. Try to add variety by covering more writers, more styles.

Hi MartianOnEarth,

I think "newspaper editorials" are one of the preparatory materials. It is generally advised to vernacular medium students or for students who do not read much.I am one of them. :P I even thought we can find the meaning of the difficult words from editorial here, as i anyways do it everyday. But there was no response.

We obviously need to go and read lot many other things.
We can really start other thread for such articles. But it cannot be done in this thread. If there is any other thread for it then please post the link here.
