Hi Puys.
Here is today's editorial:
In defence of Salwa Judum-Editorial-Opinion-The Times of India
The article talks about the Salwa Judum. Salwa Judum is a controversial anti-Naxalite civil militia formed in 2005, to bring the area dominated by Naxalites back under government control. The Salwa Judum is, according to various human rights organizations such as the People's Union for Civil Liberties, a government-backed organisation, supported by the Chhattisgarh government.
The tribal were harassed by government officers, forest officers and politicians. They joined Naxalities for the help. But tribal were soon exploited by Naxalites. So they have come together to fight the Naxalites.
What do you think people? Is this right?? SC has sent a court notice to Chhattisgarh Government asking it to stop supporting this group. Why they created their own military rather than going to government to ask for help?
What is the root cause of the Salwa Judum? Doesn't it prove that government is unsuccessful in helping and protecting tribal?
