Re: Sentence Correction for CAT 2007 -

(I)
If I want to say that rkakkar packed the suitcase last night and it's still packed, is the following correct English?
rkakkar has packed his case last night.
Because, I believe that by saying:
rkakkar packed his case last night...
It could mean that his things may be unpacked now.

(II)
While the traditional rhetoric of private enterprise stressed non-intervention by government, it did not exclude governmental support to business.
Shouldn't that be "private enterprises"?

(III)
The fundamental but largely acknowledged reason for the blocking of environmental education in schools ______ also responsible for many of education's current ills.
(1) arises from our view of the nature of knowledge, how we justify our claims to know, and the limits of such claims and is
(2) arises from our view of the nature of knowledge, how we justify our claims to know, and the limits of such claims which are
I feel that both are grammatically correct and both could be placed in the "blank", but would change the meaning of the sentence. In such a case, how do we know which meaning of the sentence is the author wanting to express?
------
Please clarify.
Thanks!!

For your III question I feel 1 is right..Coz 2 implies that limits of the claims hold responsibity for ills of education which is not in sync with the first part of the sentence "The fundamental....reason....blocking of environment education in schools" which implies that the same reason is responsible for limiting environment education and
"also responsible for educations current ills".
For your II question there's nothing wrong with the statement. As far as i know, enterprise has no plural form... Private enterprise itslef refers to Business managed by private companies..
For your I one, am stumped..
