hi dubya....thou this is bit late to reply to the question ...but i think the ans to the question you replied last is wrong.....i think the answer ahud be answer option 2...not 4...
now i agree that conc-1&2 could be validly arrived at but still...4 dcan be wrong..
you said....we can combine the two conc to reach to the third one -i.e. some spectacles are not stone(conc 4) but this ruins the very basic principle of deductive logic...which says ..we need to work pon with the propositions only and we cannot combine two or more conc to reach to third one...(thou if it would have been allowed the conc that you made by combining 1&2 would be right)...but third conc is correct bcoz it says...some glasses are not stones...
as it is given
1.all glasses are breakable...2.no stones break ..so we can conclude that some glasses are not stones...because logically ...some A's are not B's= atleast one A should not be B... so by this extension some glasses are not stones is true...
open to feed back and question/.....
