Hi,

I am going to start a new thread. I have searched the forum and could not find a dedicated thread to grammar. Of course there are threads for VA, RC, Sentence correction.

In this thread I will pick a topic everyday. The topics I wish to post are Parts of Speech, Articles, Determiners, Clause, tense, Voice, Subject verb Agreement, Complex/simple/compound sentences, etc.

I request all of you to come with atleast a single topic or sub-topic. Today I will sart with Phrase.

Expect contributions

I am open to comments and suggestions.

Best,
Globemart

phrases are group of words without a finite verb.
there are three types of them:
noun phrase : act as a noun( usually a noun with some description) e.g.
A fifty year old man has got 100 %le in CAT.

Adjective phrase : Telling qualities of a noun not contained in the phrase, e.g.

The man's teeth was made of titanium.

Adverb phrases : These phrases are used as adverbs showing quality of the verb in the sentence, e.g.
I left the book in the drawer.

this is just the beginning, keep adding to this material.

Long awaited thread ...
I have some suggestions
1.We can also discuss some typical questions...which are grammar based
2.simple grammar rules which are often neglected.....
3.let us not discuss theoritical grammar stuff here and instead...applications of grammar
4. usage of idioms..
Will put some questions here.

We can surely benefit from this thread

Dear ravish,fristy,leo trust, ricky,

Thanks for comments. I have a suggestion . Let us pick a topic and put in detail. Like if I choose noun, I will post all the basic rules (types), exceptions of uses like (abstract noun countable noun singular or plural).
Also let me know, how should I post ---As an attachment or directly in the thread.

I will start posting Tuesday onwards.

Best,
Globemart

Every morning a lion wakes up.It knows it must run faster than the slowest deer or it will starve to death.
It Doesn't matter if you are a lion or deer, when the Sun comes up you'd better be running.
