Opinion on current music videos - 17-05-2003, 01:14 PM

heya ppl....this has been something that i've been increasingly wondering over the past few days..... (probably seeing too much TV )...anyways...what dya folks make out of the current crop of private music videos....those remixes...... the kinda videos they come up with ( a la kaanta laga, chadthi jawani , etc, etc) .....personally, i couldn't care less, but surely something must be right abt them (?) that we see so many of them.... is it that such videos strike a chord in the minds of the teenie-boppers..... or is it a general decadence in the mindset of ppl that they'd prefer anything that is thrown in with a lot of flesh..... (forgive the comparison)....me thinks its got more to do with the latter reasoning....or is it something else..?? ...what do u ppl think???

Cheers

Yup, i have noticed this too. I find the remixed songs pretty boring and uninteresting. The creative content of these videos is low, though the sensuous content is high. But like it or not, you gotta admit, sex sells and how!! Besides, acceptibility among people has gone up too. Is it a degradation of moral values, i really dont know.

Yup, u got it right pal. It is precisely this reason why these videos are appreciated not only by the teenagers, but some grown ups also. Channels like B4U are ignoring the directive of the IB ministry to take these videos off the air, as then the viewerships will fall.

But I think that this may be a passing craze. Remember the time when songs with dual meaning like "Choli ke peechhay" had become a norm in hindi movies ? Well that phase also had passed as suddenly as it had emerged.

So lets hope that we will be spared of such meaningless crap videos in the near future

i do agree with u guys today the music videos r nothing but stupidity, they make no sense and they also spoil the old tunes. just dunno how ppl can take all this.
i read somewhere that song Kanta laga had sold so many copies.
nowdays music companies r minting money by using or maybe misusing females.

i agree with u guys..its nothing but vulgarity at its best..u take up any old r.d burman song use ur pic and some midi files along with ur synth and wat u get is wat they call remix..now its remax or digital mix its so easy ..wat i think theres only 1 way to stop this stuff that is to make the copyright laws more strict and ...guys i need ur opinion on this ..whenever the kaanta laga or its sister videos are on air and we see gals in skimpy outfits do u know wat the older generation people comment..??they say its all bcoz the younger generation is liking it and they have lost their moral base..is it true guys..??why are we to take the blame???plzz post ur comments on this..lemme tell u we dont support that stuff ..and as the guys in this forum must be knowing we dont support such remixed music..we like music in its purest form u dont need the remix of kaanta laga to jive just play an old mj number and ur body will start shaking instantly..so guys shoot ur opinions

First up, musically, these things suck. Putting out a remix is probably the easiest thing in the world (with due respect to the Iceman!). And no one hails these rehashed songs as artistic masterpieces anyways, so in that sense, I think they're right where they belong.

Visually, it's a bit different. It is true that producers look specifically to increase the 'sexuality' (if that term acually fits) into videos, but as someone pointed out, sex sells. And that's all these videos and remixes are about.

But I don't believe they point to a degradation of moral values. Acceptability and degradation are two different things.

Come on, are you telling me that the youth of the 50s or 60s or whatever wouldn't have watched this if it was on TV then?? It's about what's accepted and what's considered to be ok at a particular time. The "older generation" object to this because at their age, that's the right thing to say.

The days of good english have went.

I agree that most remixes are abolutely disastrous. But there are a few which have been made with utter perfection adn true quality. I remix songs for my personal use only.
